I would think that any write down in the value of the license would be in spite of the live football right. This is really the last thing of value they have as people want live tv sports. In saying that cricket is losing its mojo with the viewers and looks like they will not get the big bucks they are used to.

of all things with the cricket the BBL is or fast becoming the jewel in the crown of the cricket broadcast rights. c9 passed on the rights a few years ago & c10 picked them up for now much

its been a real cash cow for C10, you wonder how much worse things could get for c10 if they didnt have the rights to the BBL

they have been, its definitely been something different and fresh! far better than the clowns c9 has! ever since the semi retirement then the unfortunate death of Richie they have gone completely down hill.
hopefully c10 do retain the rights! the money the BBL brings in for him would surely be keeping the network alive at present

yeah because thats how it works you simpleton. lets also ignore the fact that Seven wrote off the value of its license at double the rate.
The biggest single hit was a $432.4 million writedown in the value of its television licence but Seven West also impaired the value of its investments and other assets by $276.4 million and made a $139.6 million provision for its onerous contracts.
Assets, investments. Like the $800m( or whatever it was) that they spent securing the AFL for the next 6 years (one of its larger investments) now written down. Devalued to a much more realistic figure.
