Finals were on TV last night. The difference couldn't have been more dramatic.
The AFL had the crowd, the atmosphere, the drama ,the spectacular, the exciting and the scoring despite poor weather,
showing yet again Australian Football is the number one football code in Australia by far. The Australian game for Australians..
Not a wimper out of the nrl crowd in comparison.

I can only but show you the number of AFL teams outside Victoria compared to the number of NRL teams outside NSW. I cant make you comprehend it though. I dont think anyone can.

If you look at NRL they have a lot more regional teams which I think somewhat compensates for their lack of teams in WA and SA. They have teams in Canberra (GWS plays a few in canberra), Newcastle (Vic equiv of Geelong), Illawara (half home games), Townsville, Gold coast (same as AFL). Its not quite a widespread but its still a good effort. Both comps have to many teams in their main city, to be truely national. 9 teams in Melbourne/Sydney are to many.

2 are just starting, the other two have bigger crowds than just about every NRL team in NRL heartland.

The AFL have teams in 5 states and play regular games in the 5th

The NRL are is 3 states and are roundly ignored by one of them.
