See Gold Coast v gws was on fta 7 main channel this afternoon. Whilst Collingwood v Fremantle was just on fox. My opinion is that the later would have rated far better and this is an example of where showing the suns live into their local market actually negatively impacts the ratings when another game would likely rate higher.

On another note ... seen a few times there that the afl is being shown on the main 7 channel. Including the Anzac eve game that had no local team. Any one know why this has been ?

True a Pies games would most likely outrate a suns / lions game>> but it would not be by much..
going off trends of other games with no QLD team maybe 10k at best..

Channel 7 and the AFL decided about 4 months ago to broadcast more AFL games into QLD
on the Main Channel to try and enhance the Game in QLD and for the two QLD based teams..

the increase has been marginal, but Wookie have better % stats...

Wow........32k on Fox for GWS v Suns. Is that the lowest ever AFL game on Fox?? The good thing about ratings is they're not fudged like the laughable crowd figures. It's actually getting worse for the western fumblers.

As stated by SMH AFL reporter Vince Rugari, "The AFL must be concerned that the supposedrapid growth of the game in NSW is not being borne out in the stands". He could also add in the Sydney TV ratings. It appears Dr Lawson was right. The AFL basically tell lies to try and sell the game. Unfortunately for them people in the educated northern states aren't bubble dwelling idiots!!!

We don't ignore crowds. Were actually trying to do something about it. But in the mean time we will just have to make do with being the most popular and most watched sport in Australia.
