No one was expecting 90k at either match. Stop making things up. MCC forecast was 83k and was noted in the broadcast. 90k would have been a record for mondays fixture.

And not for this actual event fixture, which didnt become an actual fixture until 2001. Prior to that it was open to any club that was fixtured. as anyone knows 1958 was well before the AFL started doing this marquee fixturing rubbish
