No news on the NZ TV deal yet with the season going to start in a few months? There must be a lot of disagreement in terms of the price. Sky probably have offered 60 million for 5 years while the NRL probabaly want 100 million.
They still haven't finalised their TV deal and don't have a CEO after 4 months. What a rabble

Pies really?

So our TV deal went up by more then 130% but our NZ sky deal will go down by 15%............... :-k :-k

Do you see your logic just does not work..the NRL is currently getting 14m PA atm, that is 70m over 5 years. The NRL will get over 100m for this sky deal just wait and see.

I heard the rumor that Sky wanted to pay less then they currently do and with it being essentially a one horse race this may be what happens. With Australian TV, channels like 9 always said that they would have to pay more. The NRL could only get 14 million out of sky last year after negotiating a 1 year extention. I would agree with you except for those points. I think 70-100 million is a likely range, but to say that the NRL will get 100 million for sure is premature.

The 14m 1 year extension was in good faith to NZ sky from the ARLC so they (ARLC) could line up all the TV contract negotiations in the 1 year, has nothing to do with struggling to get more money....

And going by how our last negotiation went (9 TV deal) the NRL should get well over the 70m over 5 year deal from sky NZ.

It's little coincidence that Channel 7 started dominating the Australian television ratings once they regained the AFL TV rights in 2007.

They openly admitted the nRL will lose them tens of millions each year. No wonder they think they own the game and are demanding the major say in scheduling. Broncos every FN here we come... #-o

7 and 10 put in a joint bid for the 2007 - 2011 rights. They won all 8 games and sold the worst 4 games a week to Foxtel. 7 have now beefed up their football coverage with exclusive rights to 4 FTA games each round with no selling games to other FTA networks.

Broncos will have 3 times the amount of Friday night matches that Collingwood will have next year and the Broncos finished lower on the ladder than Collingwood did. Didn't the Raiders finish above the Broncos last year? How many Friday night matches do they get in comparison to the Broncos? nRL... selling out to TV networks again.

Hey, collington are the only club in any sport to rival the Broncos for Friday night fixtures, stop making piss poor excuses, they're as fucking awful as each other.
