Thats a possible G.F match
on FTA yes. But again, 1 of 2 matches on Fox at the time, and the other was the reigning premiers v a top 4 side. The 2 fox games rated over 400k and a proportion would have been from Sydney, especially given Sydney has the highest subscription rates for payTV in the country

Lol lol lol .
Yes Syd has the highest uptake .
But that was/is RL fans ,because of our poor tv deal
Now are you suggesting they have switched to watching AFL

Jesus h fuck ...talk about grasping at straws.
STV is about 1/3 of FTA .
So 40 k will be lucky to have 15 k on STV .

:))) :))) :)))

Lol .
The huge uptake in Syd was rl fans ,long before the last tv deals .
You can't dispute that .
The rare times they give out a one city number ,it's usiually 1/3 of FTA .
Fox footy might be no 1 .
But I would bet that most viewers come from Aflol states .

The AFL doesn't have to make that decision.

While GWS can see its fan base growing in both regions, it will be quite happy to play in both regions.

And the fans in both regions will have something big in common: a shared commitment to the same football team.

give me a break.
why I do agree they are gaining abit support in Canberra.

the real reason the AFL played them in Both cities is "the incase Failure happens"

No, Leeroy, you are quite wrong.

The AFL since its origins in 1897 (118 years) hasn't had a failure. The AFL sets its objectives, and reaches them.

Underpinning GWSs growth plans is the GWS Academy. The academy is active in western Sydney, over the mountains and across the vast western plains from the Murray and north to Dubbo and beyond.

This is the support footprint where GWS finds most of its support base. The 2 million+ who live in western Sydney obviously supply most of the support, but western Sydney is only part of the story.

fair enough.

Though I do recall Fitzroy and South Melbourne a failure before relocating and becoming successful.

well I guess the AFL folk can have a team called Greater west of Sydney. (which is Western Sydney out to Penrith.
Play in Canberra.

I think anyone in world sport would go WTF how stupid is that

but to a AFL person I guess this is normal...

Fitzroy and South Melbourne migrated to new homes. That is not failure. That'smart.

Likewise, the Rabbitohs migrated to Homebush as their support base moved west. (That's why they oppose the Moore Park stadium plan which would compelled them to return to the east.).

If Cronulla Sharks have to migrate to, say, Brisbane, that's not a failure. It's a move to shore-up their ongoing survival.

Blimey, you leaguies know how to play the glass-half-empty pessimism when it suits you.

the 2 old VFL clubs were dead and had no money
that is why they relocated as it was a new chapter.

so in saying, it failed.. but was reborn again....
