1st I live in Melb there is only one club near where we live that plays RL - we approached the club because they play on Saturdays and he can still play AF on Sundays - never heard back from them - they have no idea and I can't work out if the club actually exists or not - 2nd my son has no prejudices like obviously you Sydney fuck heads - nor do most Melb people I have meet - IF RL ever came to his school he would sign up providing it didn't clash with AF (he plays indoor soccer on Fridays and then rushes to go to Friday night cricket). I don't know why a child WOULDN'T be interested in playing a game or having fun - (I was an Auskick coach for 3 years and every year the numbers just grew and grew). It appears it's you and your biases that are the issue with the fact that AF has moved into NSW in a meaningful way and is now a viable option - I have said this numerous times and as I posted last night if not Rd then sorry- BUT I don't hate RL, I hate supporters of RL who continue to attack a sport that is not really in competition with RL - (they are completely different games) I hate ignorant people that can only feel better about them selfs and their chosen sport by attacking someone's love for another sport - I hate wankers like RD who really have an image of them selfs as something special and hands out disgusting insults on other posters because of his Juvenal mind. Thats when I attack!
Now the fact that AF is approaching schools about Auskick from an AF point of view is a good thing - they are trying to have the game promoted to kids in a direct way so these kids have greater acceptance, otherwise you would say it isn't happening at all, I noted that the NRL last year said in Victoria 50,000 kids had an RL experience and that 200,000 school kids had visits by Melb Storm players (who I follow). Now no one where I live have EVER seen any of this take place - but we breath something that cannot be seen - doesn't mean it did happen just because we didn't see it - in Sydney and in particular RD land this means it didn't! I can acknowledge you don't like AF, I can acknowledge you think RL is superior but I won't acknowledge that makes RL better than AF or the number one code in this country because it just ain't!
Now I am prepared to admit when wrong I am prepared to accept facts - NO RL poster on this site thinks they can be wrong (even Phy when shown facts turns to another topic rather than just accept he's wrong and I find him more rational than the rest) in particular RD will ignore that he ever posted clear lies - KE will argue til black in the face and prance around telling you how wonderful he thinks he is (FIGJAM), Parra and eels I don't think have much to say other than repeating what RD says but if possible in a less intelligent way and clearly both have ABI's - so let's see if you really are rational or just another Sydney centric clone that thinks Australia means Sydney!

as a RL fan I am first to take a potshot at scheduling ,the previous BS deal with news ltd..issues like the shoulder charge etc.
I was banned from BF for arguing about assaults/rape(I had links/sources ,) but still banned .I dared bring up Mickey 0 hush money,which not surprisingly I was howled down as a liar,because there are some things AFL media don't print too much about.
My gripe is the ivory tower that AFL house/fans/media look down from to take pot shots at rl .
that is fine when your own house is clean ,but AFL is far far from clean .

I don't know if participation numbers are accurate I can only go on what information is to hand - but to use this argument to say NO ONE is interested in AF is a complete lie - I grew up in Sydney played AF on the North Shore (which had a healthily junior comp in the 80's of 8 clubs) played for Nth Shore, Newtown, Balmain and St.Ives before coming to Vic. My family was NSW born and bred (7 gen) so to say it doesn't exist is lying and ignorant! Which has always been my point - to attack the sport just because your not a fan is stupid - which the majority of yours and others like yours are about because you feel the AFL is invading your territory which is not the case. Like I said I have no real issue with RL - go to Storm matches (follow them since Nth Sydney were stabbed in the back by Manly!) I am fist to agree when I see problems with AF - and admit the AFL will make statements to its own end - but doesn't the RL? The greatest game on earth how arrogant! And that's the problem you RL types were so used to ignoring the rest of the country in the past and claiming you represent the whole of Australia that now you see another code coming into your state in a meaningful way (long overdue!) you get offended. If you concentrated on real issues and accepted everyone is entitled to their game of choice then I would more readily accept your point of view!

Who says they have no interest - you or their parents? Haven't meet a kid yet who when offered to kick a ball, bounce a basket ball, hit a cricket ball etc etc wasnt interested and stood back and said "I hate that sport!" It's only YOUR biases that lead you to this conclusion. AF is a great game, it is Australian, it is skillful but like ALL sports there is still the need to promote it! Maybe if RL did the same you would have more than 2500 players in Vic of ALL ages and only ONE Born and bred player in the NRL! But you don't promote it nor do you do even a modicum of recruitment - so don't get shitty because the AFL does what the RL doesn't! Again your ONLY interested in making up facts and twisting facts to alleviate the concern you have with YOUR code - how about you take it up with the NRL rather than rubbishing a great Australian sport!
