Clearly this racist git, who then went on to say Adelaide might soon have to only recruit Indigenous players with one white parent, has never heard of the kinship system. Fewer rules and regulations indeed!

Just another ignorant racist who hasnt taken the time to learn one skerrick about the culture and people he makes sweeping statements about. Good riddance and well done to the crows, not the AFL, for booting this racist git.

AFL [-X [-X [-X

Xman [-X [-X [-X
Hmm, lets see. The behaviour of elite athletes are scrutenised like celebrities. Their evey actions are examined at an intense level and then broadcast to the entire country no matter how minor the issue. Therefore clubs demand that players behave at a certain standard to ensure they represent the club and its values appropriately. Indigenous players from remote parts of Australia will be totally unfamiliar to this fishbowl way of life. even players who are familiar with the city life, and have grown up watching their heroes actions splashed all over the papers struggle to adapt.

This is reality, not racism.

Here is what Rendell said about his comment on the one white parent issue:"I said to 'Jase' [Mifsud] that the attrition rate was too high at the moment. He agreed that there were too many indigenous players dropping out of the system. I said, 'I've got my theories, tell me if you reckon I'm right'," Rendell said. When he then declared indigenous players generally came from more laidback families and were "not prepared for AFL life as others . . . he [Mifsud] said, 'That's a fair assumption of Aboriginal life' ".
"I was using that as a basis for an idea I had to help more indigenous players stay in the system. I want every kid to play 10 years no matter where they are from," he said. "I said to Jason there is a serious issue that needs to be addressed right now. It was a throwaway line — a ridiculous line — but I said you might find we only recruit players with only one white parent."

He never said it was policy. He never recruited in this manner. He never told others to recruit in this manner. Others did not recruit in this manner. [-X

Add to that he was forced to resign because of his comments.the AFL acted swiftly and severely, unlike the NRL on multiple racial issues [-X
THe AFL did jack diddly. The man makes and continues to make sweeping ignorant comments about Aboriginal people that belong in the 19th Century. "laid back families" ...what exactly does that mean? Can someone educate these ex AFL employees and Xman? I've tried the latter but he doesnt read too good so its useless. The mod who cant read :_<>
The AFL addressed the issue. They discussed it at length at AFL HQs. Mysteriously Rendell decided to quite. I wonder why that is... :-k

Compare that to the NRL:

- racist SOO coaching staff......silence from the NRL, let alone any action!
- racist fans on twitter......silence from the NRL
- racist fans at the SOO.......silence from the NRL
- racist player on twitter......silence from the NRL
- claims racism exists in the NRL admin........silence from the NRL

The silence is defining KE! [-X

Better get Raiderdave the new mod to act now!

Fat Dumbo Demetriou
said the AFL did not orchestrate the resignation and left the matter entirely up to the Crows, said Trigg had advised Rendell to go away for a couple of hours and think about what he said.
So Xman what is it. The AFL did nothing at fat dumbo demetriou stated. Or as you state the AFL did heaps of background work, which they effectively denied doing, to force Rendell to quit....Are the AFL ashamed to confront racism in the public? Their silence on the matter was quite deafening  Why? It's either they did nothing, or dont wanna be seen doing anything. Either way its AFL - [-X [-X [-X

Well for starters the AFL investigated the issue thoroughly, especially given the AFL's indigenous officer himself raised it with the AFL... :D

Further, they discussed the issue with the Crows and allowed them to deal with the matter as they saw fit. If the Crows hadnt have acted im sure the AFL would have stepped in.

Wouldnt you say that's action KE?

Further again, how are we claiming Rendell is a racist when he himself raised the issue with Mifsud, the AFL's indigenous officer, as a matter of concern! :-k

Are you trying to tell me he was getting advice from Mifsud about how to implement a racist policy? Maybe he was exposing himself as a racist and asking forgiveness?

So the AFL acted on this matter, even if the final action wasnt their's specifically. Furthermore, the demons dumped a sponsor, Collingwood banned a fan, the AFL investigated claims about the Demons which were shown to be out of context. Swift and severe.

Compare that to the NRL.....

Oh boy you are dumb. I've told you countless times before. The most racist and destructive policies in Australian history were developed with Aboriginal folk centred "as a matter of concern". And you still think that paternalistic views towards Indigenous people are 'helping' them. You simply dont get it...because...you're a bit simple when it comes to complex issues. Now go on, giiit back to the 19th Century Xman, you'll fit riiiiight in!

ah, problem KE. Mifsud didnt help develop any policy. He reported the Rendell's opinion to the AFL who investigated the matter......

This action alone resulted in Rendell's termination.

See it KE? Action..........

as opposed to the NRL's complete lack of action. No wonder they have been called racist by their own players. [-X
The deposed Knight last night made the sensational allegation that racist elements exist at the code's highest echelons, saying: "There is rampant racism within the NRL's administration and it is very toxic."

Xman there's another fundamental flaw in your continued lamo argument.

On the one hand you are arguing that what Rendell said is not a racist.

On the other hand you're arguing the AFL took great affirmative action.

Now personally I know you're wrong on both counts  But at least you could present us with an argument which doesn't contradict and make a fool of yourself...pick up yer game Xman!

Rendell was attempting to highlight an issue which manifests as a higher than average dropout rate of indigenous AFL players. He was so concerned about the issue he approached the AFL's indigenous liason to discuss it. His attempts to explain why this issue was occuring may have been simplistic but his intention was clearly not racism.

The AFL viewed the issue as potentially racial and acted through a thorough investigation which resulted in Rendell losing his job.

Interesting how you've avoided the main issue I've shown which is that the AFL have consistently acted on racism and the NRL HAVE NOT! [-X

 So lemme get this straight Xman. In your opinion the AFL completely fukked up, ruining an innocent man's life in their assessment of racism...but atleast they "acted"??? :_<>

There I've addressed your main issue. Which appears to be something akin to split personality disorder

Interesting how you've still not learnt that making sweeping paternalistic statements about Aboriginal people can indeed be very racist in this country. Your man Rendell is a very very dumb bloke, if not a racist.

No, the AFL were obliged to investigate. The Crows over-reacted, absolutely.

Yes Rendell's opinions are sweeping but still worthy of discussion.

Sweeping "but" still worthy of discussion?????

Excuse me but that's exactly what the AFL DIDN'T want! That's why Rendell quit before he was pushed! He exposed AFL policy and they had to get rid of him somehow and they did!

Please explain how it is AFL policy when clubs, including the crows, continue to recruit indigenous players at the same rate as the NRL... #-o

As I said Rendell raised the issue with mifsud out of concern. Why the hell would a racist exposé his racist views to his employers indigenous liaison?
