Another time you saw or heard about (not really sure which because there is no reference to it) some guys drinking in the members when the game was on.

So in your dozens of games you have been to you have seen one sleep. two rugby/soccer fans (getting excited about a game of AFL) and (possibly) guys drinking at the SCG thats 3 people (maybe a few more) out of probabaly hundereds of thousands of people. That sounds statistically significant lets pull both the Sydney teams out before they notice the 5 guys wearing Rooster gurnseys from about 5 years ago, when the finally review the 2007 round 14 DVD.

No piesman that's not all im going off. I'm also going off the relatively little publicity the code gets here, unless the swans win the title. I'm also going off my experiences of more than a decade of living in sydney. I'm also going off friends who call themselves swans fans...but dont know the players. I'm also going off the number of swans fans who are actually melbournites/ex south melbourne fans and the number of bandwagoners and 'odd game here and there' the swans collect year in year out. Yes there's a small bunch of loyal supporters but I'm telling you, all indicators suggest this bunch is small and the rest of the sydneysiders present at the games know little about the game. I wish it were different but that seems to be how it goes.

Anyway, Melbourne's ratings for a few rl games doesn't reflect on the sports overall popularity. Regular nRL games rate worst than dog shit still over there.

I'll try looking up the other states when i get a mo. But really, we all know millions upon millions of aussies love their league, covering all states and territories, bar tassie.

Maybe a couple of million in NSW and QLD at best, but to see reality you need to venture outside of those two states to see what the rest of us thing of the dumbed down version of real rugby. Every now and then Adelaide's nRL ratings will be so low that they actually don't register a figure. I think for that to happen, there needs to be less than 500 people watching as anything above 500 is rounded up to the nearest thousand, in this case 1,000.

Grand Final and a few finals all rating in the hundreds of thousands. If 7 had put the Sydney v Collingwood prelim on 7 that would have rated well over 300,000. They made a mistake however, as that prelim ended up out rating their program on Channel 7 at 8.30. Sydney-centric dumb fucks
