Its not a week, its 6 months, plus a 50k fine!

Compare their punishment to similar breaches in the NRL and you will see it was FAR harsher [-X

THE AFL has dealt fairly with the Adelaide Football Club, but the penalties it has handed down to Steven Trigg and footy manager, Phil Harper seem way too severe.

Trigg is not allowed to work in football for six months, plus being fined $50,000! It seems a ridiculous amount compared with the club's penalty of $300,000. Phil Harper, who is almost an innocent victim in this unfortunate affair, cannot work in football for two months.

Kurt Tippett, also seems to have received an excessive penalty of 11 weeks suspension and his fine of $50,000 is massive. There will be little sympathy for him here in Adelaide, however,

Inglis is gone - he's a Bunny now. Slater nearly went as well. He only stayed because he was prepared to for a massive cut and good for him. Cronk and Smith weren't big at the time (that report was wrong). Of course they're great now with Smith as our captain.

Get it right next time.
Buddy lets get this right. By 2009 when the spending got out of control(near 25 percent of cap over cap) cronk,Smith, inglis and Slater were all playing for Australia. Cronk had won dally M half back .Smith had won a Dally M and had been voted the best player in the world. What the fuck are you on about weren't that big. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out where the money was going . Yet they walk away pockets full Scott free. What a joke as if they didn't know. Do you really expect us to believe that their managers didn't tell them. Now look at Tippett a mere 2 percent over and everyone gets smashed. NRL weak as Piss.

I meant weak Xman.....

How is it much harsher, the NRL fined the Storm 1.6m wtf are you talking about. They also sacked the CEO, made the Storm play the rest of the year for no points even when the players were not involved.

Took 2 premierships away from then and took 2 minor premierships away from then, if you think that punishment from the AFL is harsh then you are clueless.

I just showed how the AFL dealt out harsher penalties to the Crows for rorts involving $200k for one player than the NRL did for the Warriors for $1m in rorts over 2 years.

Are you seriously comparing the Storms systematic rorting involving millions for multiple players over 2 seasons compared to $200k for one player? :-k

Who's the clueless one???

Oh, and I knew you meant weak, but it needed to be said

STEVEN Trigg is a tall man more suited to playing full-forward than riding a horse, but he now has a lot in common with Damien Oliver.

The jockey was rubbed out for 10 months and will return for the big dance next spring.

Trigg could very well be celebrating with a cup of a different kind next spring after today receiving no more than a slap on the wrist from the AFL Commission.

The Adelaide chief executive pleaded guilty to a role in breaching salary cap rules and compromising the draft, yet was suspended for only six months from January 1.

He wants to stay in the role, leaving his future in the hands of the board he kept secrets from, and gut-feel says he will clear that hurdle.

Given chairman Rob Chapman's public support tonight for Trigg, the Crows expect him to return to work on July 1.

Chapman made it clear Trigg was the best man to lead the club forward even though his future was up for review. It just doesn't sit well.

In the harsh light of day, does Trigg decide it is untenable and fall on his sword? It would seem a tough gig for anyone to resume their place in the top chair.

This dark cloud will dog Trigg forever and any success the club will seem tainted while he is there.

Club CEOs have been moved on for a lot less. Regardless of what Chapman and his board mates say, he should resign.

Yes, Trigg is respected, but Matt Rendell was respected, too. Look what happened to the popular Crows recruiter ... he was moved on in a flash by Trigg himself for a few silly comments far less serious than Trigg's offences.

Adelaide football manager Phil Harper, a late comer to the Tippett saga, received only a two month "holiday" and surely will live to fight another day.

You could also argue that the league went light when it stripped only picks one and two from next year's draft. The $300,000 fine is only short change for the Crows.

  Thats 1 person. What about the clubs ban? or the player? Or their fines?

What about the Warriors who breached the cap by 5 times more and only suffered 30% more fine?

Im sorry, but when you sign two playing contracts with one being totally different to the other, you "know"
Did they "know" they were different? When one signs a contract you don't just sign once. You sign a copy or copies as well for your own records and that of your manager if you have one!!

WOW, seriously, when you sign a contract with salary and benefits you check those salary and benefits. What moron signs a contract without checking how much theyre getting paid? Then when you notice one doesnt match the other the light goes on.
