Eat your sour grapes bitches! :\:
Yes eat our 1.275million......

AFL deal worth 1.250m - 400million to keep up expansion clubs and it comes out to 850million.... :-k

NRL 1.275million ------>AFL 850million.. #-o

Raider sure looks to be the winner in all this. =D>
Doc is saying on LU that Fox has some of the internet rights and he is not sure what the rest could be sold for. He also said that the NZ rights probabaly would be closer to 100 million over 5 years. So the deal will be 1.15 + according to him.
That guy is off with the fairies. Seriously, why would the mobile phone and internet rights be so valuable now that Fox Sports has won the online rights? As for the NZ rights, Sky TV already complains that it pays to much - $14 million a year currently. $20 million is pure fantasy. What drugs is that doc on?
However, for the next five years, Fox Sports have also won online rights, meaning it can offer subscribers games via tablet, a successful initiative used during the recent London Olympics.

A potential downside is if Telstra, who paid the AFL $153million for online rights, values the remaining mobile phone and online properties at significantly less, then the ARLC may struggle to achieve $1billion in cash, given that the cash component of yesterday's is $925 million.

While the money the ARLC receives from the yet-to-be-negotiated New Zealand TV rights should not be used in comparisons with the AFL, which does not have an equivalent team in another country, the fee will narrow the overall rights gap between the codes.

Sky TV in New Zealand currently pays $14 million per year to show NRL games but has protested it is paying too much.

If you work for sky TV your not going to say we have a great deal and we need to pay the NRL lots more money. Im no expert by lets say that Sky keep the statis quo and keep playing 14 million a year. Thats 70 million for the next 5 years. Lets say that the rest of the online rights are worth nothing. Thats about 1.1 billion minium. Still quite a good financial deal. Who knows the rest of the online rights might be worth a lot more if the NRL sets up its own internet streaming.

Yeah it wont be lots more then the 14m pa but it will increase to close to 20m no doubt.

The NRL is going to set up its own streaming before the start of next season.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/nrl/a ... 6456073713

Meaning we could potentially get more for our internet rights then the AFL.

AFL 18 = 1.250M minus the 150m each GWS, SUNS will loose brings the AFL out to under 1 billion dollars.
NRL 16 = 1.025Million + potentially 100m for NZ and 150m for internet maybe more.

-NRL got a great deal financially and we got more games and more tournaments to watch also. 4 Nations now shown on nine, World club challenge, Anzac Test, 3 Thursday games, The Queensland In Trust Super Cup, Waved first and last rights by Nine, FOX, New ltd, Both Nine and Fox Sports will work together to stage two player development academies to train players in media presentation which is really an area we need to improve on.

-Fox got 13 Sunday evening games, Three non NRL matches each week played in conjunction with the Telstra Premiership game (which will be shared between Toyota Cup, NSW Cup and GIO Schoolboys Cup), The first 20 rounds of the Premiership will be scheduled in advance of the season.

How people can actually say this deal is bad is beyond me. =D>

NRL potentially can stream live NRL to you Mobile and Ipad from next year, if this happens we got a bloody fantastic deal if not then still a great deal which will see our game move forward nicely.

The people saying its bad include NRL fans!!!

Theyre complaining that unless youre a Broncos fan youll see few if any live game involving your team FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS.

Theyre complaining that no FTA NRL will be shown on TV on Saturday FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS!

Theyre complainint that Ch9 now own their game.

Theyre complaining that there are more crowd unfreindly games in this deal than the last ridiculous deal!!

Theyre complaining that despite the media telling them they have the number 1 sport on Australian TV they got less money than the AFL from an Australian TV network.

Theyre complaining that if you live in RL heartland you can see 4 times more live AFL on FTA than NRL, their chosen sport!!!!! This is for another 5 years

These are NRL fans. Us AFL fans are just watching from a distance and laughing.

But its a good deal!!

And to go with this the AFL have droped crowd average of 38k from 2007 First year of previous contract to 30k first year of this contract.

Looks to me like the AFL made a huge mistake by having 4 live AFL games on FTA and the NRL don't want the same result, not only are averages way down but there Foxtel takeup is rubish. Bound to get less money from Fox next time around, heck you might even loose your AFL channel....

Eel, you are yet to take into account any upcoming club money issues for the NRL. So you claim that the money going into West Sydney and Gold Coast comes from the AFL revenue from the deal they got? Fine. Guess what. The same thing will happen in the NRL.

Also, the crowds are still higher than the NRL. Way higher. And the drop in AFL average is not the result of the TV deal. It's the result of the West Sydney and Gold Coast crowds, which are still to develop.

The GC and GWS surely require significantly more funding than any of the poor NRL clubs...

Man your all wrong.Your laying this out like a spredsheet if your going to that then add all revenue and all expenditure. You know as well as I you are still 100's of millions behind.70 % of the internet rights are already sold or did you miss that and NZ wont come close. So at the end of the day you lose expansion television coverage, day grand final and all live footybut at least the players can now afford MERCS.You have been right royally reamed and your happy about it.Like I said previous if Demitriou had done this deal he would be sacked.

For the players its a great result but for the fan man you must be dissappointed.Lets face it when the AFL got the money league was always going to get it because the ratings are extremely close. But the deal they done is amateur hour and that cocky ***** gyngall how can you stomach that. Mate I can promise you noone cared about the cash down here lets face it these blokes make enough money but if they had come back with no live footy there would have been a riot.Honestly the money is great and it is what the game deserves but the fact the swans or the giants get beamed into sydney live every saturday(no coincedence)and league doesnt even get a guernsey in there own back yard is awful.Honestly wouldnt you rather have taken the indignaty of a smaller deal so you could have the same package as the AFL. I cant help but think you guys got slotted so a few nobs can say we got a billion too.

Well I'm not too phased as I dont really care to be watching more than two/three games a week. Also alot of the cashish will hopefully be spent on development, which is never a bad thing, except if they decided to go to mongolia with the game and waste a few mil, like the AFL basically did. I can see the point though with live matches. It wouldve been better if they went for getting the sunday game live and added a saturday live match on FTA also...
