Inaugural Rugby League Challenge Kicks Off In East Timor

The International Stabilisation Force (ISF) has established an annual rugby league charity match between Australian and New Zealand soldiers deployed to East Timor.

Locals lined Dili Stadium as representatives from the two partner nations competed to help raise funds for local orphanages.

The New Zealanders won the bragging rights for at least a year, winning six tries to five.

Post match, players from both teams set up a coaching clinic for the local kids and presented them with sporting equipment donated by the Aspley Leagues Club.

What is your favourite sport other than footy? Oztag

How would you describe yourself in a personal ad? I like long walks on the beach and watching the sunset.

Do you have a game ritual? If so what is it? Yes, Right footy boot always goes on first.

What is the best game you have played in and where was it? 2011 curtain raiser game to the ANZAC Day test in May atSkilledPark on the Gold Coast. We smashed the Navy 56 – 6 or something like that, I lost count after scoring the first try in the first set of the game.

Who is your Favourite NRL team? NQ Cowboys, Penrith Panthers

What is your biggest achievement in Rugby League? Making the 2008 inaugural Defence Force World Cup and scoring the first ever try.

What is your Signature Dish? I would have to say I can cook a mean sausage or two.

What are your Hobbies and interests? Motor Bike Riding, Oztag and trying to rip it up in the surf.

England may have flopped in the main event here but Australia have not had everything their own way.

Great Britain’s Armed Forces and the England wheelchair squad have both won subsidiary World Cup competitions—the Armed Forces beating Australia 26-16 to win the Defence Forces World Cup and the wheelchair squad beating the Aussies 44-12.

No, I'm saying that their sponsorship should not be put over as an achievement, particularly as a major sponsor with the naming rights. It's a joke. Now if they were sponsored by Telstra or Coca Cola or some major private company that would be a lot more credible.
