And that's the cost of expansion. The AFL can more than afford to take a hit on crowd averages. After all, it's been climbing steadily year after year, and more than the NRL for the past 11.

really

the AFL avergage attendance has only risen 7% in the last 11 years

the NRLs.... 14%

Yeah, and the AFL have risen by over 2k and the NRL by less than 2k, so the AFL are rising by more per year.

The AFL crew think that 11 Suns games dropped the average crowd for the whole AFL by 5.8%? Seriously?

was it the Suns or the smaller stadiums that made the Swans average drop by 5k last year? Did the Suns cause the Lions to lose 10k in members last year? Was it the Suns fault that the total TV ratings(AFL) in QLD for last year were lower than the year before when there was only one team?

Was it the Suns fault that the Swans have bled members for several years now?

Perhaps the simple answer is that when it comes to north of the Murray the AFL peaked 5 years ago.

The swans played in rain almost every game.

The lions are shite and their members didn't resign. Hardly surprising and happens to the counrties strongest clubs when struggling.

QLD ratings would also reflect the poor form of the QLD teams.

You are right though. QLD and Sydney did peak 5 or more years ago. Thats hardly surprising since they also peaked on the ladder at the same time. They'll rise again as they start to rise on the ladder.

Which brings me to my next point. Why are the storm struggling with crowds and ratings? They should be doing far better given their amazing success.

Problem is the Swans started declining when they won a flag and made the next grand final. The bloom is well off the rose.

There is no evidence of that at all, enarelle. Stop making things up and provide solid evidence.

The swans have made the finals in 11 of the past 20 seasons, made 3 grand finals and won a single premiership. In that time their home crowds have gone from 9000 to 27000.

The storm have Made the finals in 11 of their 14 years, made 5 grand finals and won 3 premierships (stripped of 2 for cheating). In that time their home crowds have gone from 12700 to 14200.
