More examples
Evening movies:
JASON BOURNE Nine 421,000 122,000 133,000 68,000 48,000 49,000
BACK TO THE FUTURE III -EV 9GO! 161,000 25,000 53,000 36,000 23,000 25,000
M- THOR: THE DARK WORLD-PM 7mate 154,000 49,000 51,000 21,000 17,000 17,000
Movies on 9 rate well over double movies on second channels
The Jason Bourne movie was released a couple of years, it grossed almost half a billion at the box office.
Back to the future 111 was realeased last century and got very mixed reviews
Thor the dark world a 2013 movie but reviews similar to above. and certainly not every ones cup of tea.
Well well well, look what we have here!
https://tvtonight.com.au/2018/10/saturd ... -2018.html
BACK TO THE FUTURE III Nine 240,000 48,000 75,000 55,000 28,000 34,000
BACK TO THE FUTURE III -EV 9GO! 161,000 25,000 53,000 36,000 23,000 25,000
The same movie rated 50% better on ch9 compared to 9GO!
Hmmmmmmmmmm
lol lol
you make me laugh sometimes..
As with all movies, these days repeats repeats repeats are happening more often..
A channel will often put a movie on the main channel.. than repeat it on its multi channel
1 - 2 months later..
than it goes through cycle and they repeat it 1-2 years later..
the difference from southern states to main channel >> by those figures are very small..
with LIVE FOOTBALL it would be even less

Based on what? Your opinion?
These movies were shown on the different channels about 9 months apart

lol my opinion ... no straight out logic..
If you look at Southern states.
240,000 48,000 (75,000) 55,000 (28,000) (34,000)
161,000 25,000 (53,000) 36,000 (23,000) (25,000)
the drop is marginal..
now add in LIVE SPORT>
(if you really think the AFL is going to rate so much higher on the main channel..
why does channel 7 offload it to 7 mate than ....??? what cause they want to lose ratings.
or because the 30mins news report is more important..

The drop in Sydney is nearly 50%. Hmmmm, people in Sydney dont know how to use a remote
Bottom line is every program is lower on second digital channels. They are never comparable. What possible reason would this not also be the case for live sport?

the question is why do Channel 7 not put some of the games on 7 Mate
is only because of the 30min News Segment
surley if they thought they were going to get 50% 80% more viewers they would change it.
again this the network partnership with the AFL
they have decided to do it this way..
just like the Concurrent games at the same time on the night.
(they think it is a winner)

The news is the highest rating show nation-wide almost every day. Why would they risk changing that and giving the opposition channel a free hit? They know the AFL will rate far better than anything else on 7mate so they are prepared to take the hit in ratings.
However, it's pretty obvious the fact the games start at 5.30pm on a weekday, overlap the news, and are on 7 mate significantly reduce the potential ratings. If Perth was located in Qld this wouldnt be an issue and we would see similar ratings to the NRL in Brisbane. But this is not the case. Dont get me wrong, I think AFL is incredibly strong in WA but the AFL suffers a ratings disadvantage because of the time difference.

Lol
Grasp at those straws .
It's all you have .
A movie that has been on tv over And over is not in the same ballpark as live sport .
What planet are you on . .
You can download that movie
You can stream it .if you like ...any time
When you watch has no bearing on much
Live sport ...the result is known within a few hrs ..
The result has a bearing on your team or the ladder .
Then you move on to another game or wait for next week .
You don't watch the game nine months later ...
There is nothing remotely similar about ratings for repeat movies and live sport

which is why I showed ratings for the tennis and olympics. They showed far higher ratings on the primary channel.
Of course you'll try and tell me there were more interesting events on the primary channel. This is complete BS, the olympics and tennis only have a handful of Australians participating, so there would be similar interest in most events.
I look forward to your but but excuses as always

I've checked the ratings and that is blatantly untrue. Fremantle and the Eagles rate around 120-170 on FTA where as other games rate around 80.
That's the truth
Metro results for Perths split FTA games.
R1.
Saturday (no Perth team) 53k
Sunday (with Perth team) 178k
R4
Saturday (with Perth team) 107k (was 34% of your metro total)
Sunday (No Perth team ) 71k.
R6
Saturday(No Perth team ) 79k
Sunday (with Perth team) 266k
R10
Saturday (No Perth team ) 70k
Sunday (with Perth team) 126k
Rd 15
Saturday (No Perth team) 34k
Sunday (with Perth team) 99k
Rd 20
Saturday (No Perth team) 60k
Sunday (with Perth team) 162k
Rd 22
Saturday (No Perth team) 36k
Sunday (with Perth team) 111k
The 266k figure was WC vs Freo which rates far higher as expected. Almost all FN games rated around 70-80k. Most WC or Freo games rated mid 100ks

You claimed it was ''Blatantly untrue' , surely you had some idea of what you were talking about???
When a Perth team is shown in Perth you get an extra 80 - 90k in metro viewers, almost 150k extra when you include regionals . but but but
The Perth teams would loose no more than 50 or 60k each in overlap , so that would put you ahead even before you add in the extra FTA that they get.
