Cowboys rate very well on FTA as well in Brisbane and throughout QLD
but are rarely shown in FTA
for example if the game on Saturday
Roosters v Cowboys was exclusive to FOX
imagen if this game was on FOX in rest of Australia but beamed into QLD ON FTA
would increase x 3
(I am hoping NRL follow suit and introduce AFL type of scheduling
would work TERRIFIC
oh come now. You think the cowboys pull the same ratings as the Broncos?
Im not saying showing a team into its home market isnt advantageous. This is why the broncos are shown almost every Thursday or Friday nights.
didn't say they pull the same figures as the broncos..
I said they rate well in Brisbane and throughout QLD #Brilliant in Regionals.
I also stated a Saturday Game..
meaning it would be Better if the NRL scheduled how the AFL do..
NRL FANS in QLD don't get to see much of the cowboys and Titans..on FTA
even know they do rate pretty good.
it is just the Broncos rate that 30% better.

That last sentence is the key key to the nrlol ratings.
C9 & fox schedule the nrlol fixture around ratings and who draws the best & plays matches in isolation
Where as the AFL does not.
Put the codes head to head & the AFL will flog the nearly every time! As we have seen

As an exercise lets imagine the NRL had the AFL's TV scheduling:
Friday night: Bronco's v Syd team - FTA (national) and STV ratings = 1m
Saturday 2pm: Syd team v Syd team - FTA (NSW, QLD)and STV ratings = 450
Saturday 3pm: Syd team v Warriors - FTA (NZ, VIC, SA, WA) and STV ratings = 200
Saturday 4pm: Syd team v Syd team - STV only ratings = 250
Saturday 8pm: Qld team v Syd team - FTA (Qld , NSW) and STV ratings = 825
Saturday 8pm: Melb v Raiders - FTA (NZ, VIC, SA, WA) and STV rating = 175
Sunday 4pm: Syd team v Syd team - FTA (NZ, VIC, SA, WA) and STV rating = 170
Sunday 4pm: Qld team v Syd team - FTA (Qld , NSW) and STV ratings = 700k
Total = 3.6mill
Tell me, what would you estimate these games to rate?
I Estimate 3.6mill
though the game times would slightly be adjusted
for example Saturday would be similar to the AFL
2pm
3pm
4:30pm
Sunday
2:30pm
4:00pm
therefore allowing a viewer to watch sometimes over half a game.
except your games are shorter so your overlap would be less.
I agree with your estimate which is similar or even a bit less than you currently get, despite 1 more game on FTA and home states getting home teams on FTA. As I said, the schedule is fan friendly but not average or total friendly

Tell me, what would you estimate these games to rate?
If you have pay TV you can watch 6 to 7 games a week . And any disadvantage in ratings because 2 or 3 games are unavailable (only applies to people who watch more than 5 or 6 games) So its a small figures. And I would estimate that figure would be more than made up for by having wall to wall PTV coverage.
The advantage of home fans being able to watch there own matches on FTA. And the fact that AFL FTA/PTV would pick up quiet a few ratings from the 30 to 40m overlap it has on an NRL matches. The fact that home fans for the Warriors aren't counted. These things should give the AFL a sizeable advantage when it comes to ratings. But the numbers clearly that Rugby League gets more ratings nationally year after year after year.

All Matches, are simulcast these days LOL's. And no one has 2 FTA matches on at the Same time. AFL shows the matches in different states.
both code's have shown better fox ratings when the game is also not shown on FTA. The NRL's games on fox are more often exclusive, ours are always on both FTA and fox
Our Sunday arvo FTA game nearly always has better PTV rating than our other Sunday game which is exclusive

6 would be maximum for the AFL audience. The main disadvantage is Saturday night where 900k are split between two games, not one.
The advantage of home fans being able to watch there own matches on FTA
Sometimes its an advantage, other times a disadvantage. Imagine QLD watching a poor performing Titans vs Warriors on FTA when missing a top of the table Storm v Sydney club shwon to Sydney and Melbourne only.
And the fact that AFL FTA/PTV would pick up quiet a few ratings from the 30 to 40m overlap it has on an NRL matches.
Utter rubbish excuse more than negated by Perth getting Friday games at 5.30pm on a working on 7 mate. Imagine if Brisbane got that on Friday night. No one would watch at all.

Almost half your rounds include Thursday, There are a couple on a Monday and 1 on a Thursday. There are also several split rounds showing quit a few matches shown in isolation.
AFL have more matches on FTA . So NRL viewers miss out on FTA games that they would like to watch more often.
Sunday was a good example. The Tigers v G Coast was the FTA . the Melbourne/Manly game was what people wanted to watch but it was exclusive to pay.
If you cant see that quiet a few viewers Switch over (something that League viewers don't have the option of doing) then you really are living in denial. On a Friday Night a PTV game is shown at 6pm and rates quiet well.

half our rounds have a thursday now? its like 6 games or something.
Maybe not almost half, but 8 of the 22 announced rounds on a Thursday, Plus 2 Mondays a Thursday . So every 2nd round
gives the PTV viewer the opportunity to watch Seven matches.

1.1m total for Geelong vs. Sydney last night.
76k in Sydney on 7mate (equal biggest so far this year).
It wasn't even a close game.
Imagine if it were.
The AFL & Seven on fire with sport this year.

76k still not great in my option. Minimum should be 100k maybe might help if some big non finals swans games were played on 7 instead of 7mate.
