Actually I'm comparing like for like time slots and scheduling in the AFL over the whole season. And over the weekend there were some very, very poor results. How do you explain that??

All Matches, are simulcast these days LOL's. And no one has 2 FTA matches on at the Same time. AFL shows the matches in different states.
both code's have shown better fox ratings when the game is also not shown on FTA. The NRL's games on fox are more often exclusive, ours are always on both FTA and fox

I'm not comparing NRL v AFL. I'm comparing your matches last weekend against other AFL rounds over the year. And some of the numbers were surprisingly low.

And if a Perth FTA team is shown in to WA on Sat N, or a Adelaide FTA side is shown into SA then the ratings will be twice as good. Just as if you have wall to wall coverage of AFL of a Saturday rating will be better.
How many people watch more than 6 or 7 matches a week? but but but

Most weeks a Queensland get to see a Queensland team just once a round. Perth side gets to see a Perth side more (usually twice), same as Adelaide, Syd and Bris .

Cowboys rate very well on FTA as well in Brisbane and throughout QLD
but are rarely shown in FTA
for example if the game on Saturday
Roosters v Cowboys was exclusive to FOX
imagen if this game was on FOX in rest of Australia but beamed into QLD ON FTA
would increase x 3
(I am hoping NRL follow suit and introduce AFL type of scheduling
would work TERRIFIC

Brisbane broncos represent a city of 2m people, and get to see their only team on FTA almost every week. Isnt it comparable that Perth and Adelaide get to see their teams on FTA every week? How is it different?

oh come now. You think the cowboys pull the same ratings as the Broncos?
Im not saying showing a team into its home market isnt advantageous. This is why the broncos are shown almost every Thursday or Friday nights.

didn't say they pull the same figures as the broncos..
I said they rate well in Brisbane and throughout QLD #Brilliant in Regionals.
I also stated a Saturday Game..
meaning it would be Better if the NRL scheduled how the AFL do..
NRL FANS in QLD don't get to see much of the cowboys and Titans..on FTA
even know they do rate pretty good.
it is just the Broncos rate that 30% better.

there's no doubt our schedule is more fan friendly, especially if you live in states outside Victoria. In fact Im amazed our one game v one games fox ratings are consistently better than the NRL given fox is pretty unnecessary for AFL fans living outside Victoria. However, our schedule is far from ratings average or total ratings friendly because every game bar one cannibalises another.
If the NRL get 4 games on FTA per round showing the local team to each home state, and manage to keep each game shown in isolation, their ratings will of course improve. However, if they followed the AFL model exactly, with all but 1 game shown against another game averages and total ratings would plummet. That's why averages and totals mean very little when measuring popularity. All they do is show the difference in scheduling.
eg: If the nightly news was only shown once per week it may rate 1 mil. Showing it 7 nights a week would total 7 mil. Does this mean the news is suddenly 7 times more popular?

As an exercise lets imagine the NRL had the AFL's TV scheduling:
Friday night: Bronco's v Syd team - FTA (national) and STV ratings = 1m
Saturday 2pm: Syd team v Syd team - FTA (NSW, QLD)and STV ratings = ?
Saturday 3pm: Syd team v Warriors - FTA (NZ, VIC, SA, WA) and STV ratings = ?
Saturday 4pm: Syd team v Syd team - STV only ratings = ?
Saturday 8pm: Qld team v Syd team - FTA (Qld , NSW) and STV ratings = ?
Saturday 8pm: Melb v Raiders - FTA (NZ, VIC, SA, WA) and STV rating = ?
Sunday 4pm: Syd team v Syd team - FTA (NZ, VIC, SA, WA) and STV rating = ?
Sunday 4pm: Qld team v Syd team - FTA (Qld , NSW) and STV ratings = ?
Total = ?
Tell me, what would you estimate these games to rate?

Sunday 4pm: Qld team v Syd team - FTA (Qld , NSW) and STV ratings = 700k
Total = 3.6mill
Tell me, what would you estimate these games to rate?
I Estimate 3.6mill
though the game times would slightly be adjusted
for example Saturday would be similar to the AFL
2pm
3pm
4:30pm
Sunday
2:30pm
4:00pm
therefore allowing a viewer to watch sometimes over half a game.
