Yep. Up from 7 last year. That should increase their ratings a little.
Yes, Highly embarrassed I would suggest after the arse kicking they got this year.

It remains to be seen if even more of there basket case teams will be shielded from the prime time spot.

Regional NSW and QLD are huge, i think in time we will see a changing of the guard.

and a national foot print of tv ratings will change as National than the current 5 city metro

regional NSW is bigger and worth more than W.A
regional QLD is bigger and worth more than S.A

but only the 5 cities are highlighted. (its just stupid)
Exactly Leeroy. The 6th-7th-8th-9th-10th-11th and 12th biggest cities are all in NSW/Qld and are left out of the 5 city ratings. How convenient  but as you say it wont remain that way for ever.
The biggest rating areas in order are Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Regional, Perth, Adelaide. So of course regional's should always be quoted if someone is making a national comparison. It is usually the AFL folk who quote 5 city as it makes it look better for them.

I note that now when they do it on social media they immediately get hammered. So things are changing.

The Benefits for rugby league is its strength in Regional NSW and QLD
which you know are very big and growing rapidly especially the past 5-10 years.

NSW and QLD hold the top Regional cities in Australia
and all have rugby league teams.

the revenue dollar for regional Australia is set for a big catch up..
which only benefit the corporate dollar regards to sponsorship and revenue.

(Quote Geelong) is also seeing a population explosion.

Nailed it mate .
Gilty has hit the panic button .
After the massive nosedive this year he has now excluded 1/4 of the teams in the comp from Fri night games.
After hearing for years on here how we put our best teams on fri nite to maximise ratings they have gone full re###d by excluding 5 teams .
No matter how bad some teams in the nrl are going they get a fri nite slot .

What is hilarious is that no QLD team gets a Fri nite game .
I think they've given up on them .
Lol
That's the way to look after the fans in a non heartland state.

I wonder how much push there was behind the scenes by the CEO of Ch 7.
Lol he wanted rule changes ...he got them .

As much as I made fun of vlad ..he at least didn't cave in like Gilty does .

Social media is full of unhappy fans .

No Friday games for FREM, BRIS, STK, GCS or CARL in 2019
First time since 1991 that none of the sides that finished 14th or lower the previous year plays on a Friday (1990 was a 14 team competition)

Do you mean that all teams play the main Friday game? Or are you including the curtain raiser?

I suspect this will be huge for Rugby League. Commercials will no longer be that big an issue when the next tv deal comes around. An add on Fox goes to everybody. Regional and Metro viewers will be treated equally, or very close to it. :thumbleft:

We have Thursday and Saturday night games on FTA. Friday is the number 1 slot but every side gets plenty of prime time FTA chances.

Its certainly more even than the NRLs love affair with the Broncos

We have thurs nite game too on FTA
& some Saturdays .
But Fri is the biggest game of the week in both codes .
Yet one of those codes due to disatorous ratings has excluded 1/4 of the comp from being on Fri nite
No matter how much you but but but ..you can't change that fact .

yeh good point, By going to streaming and paying for the service.
actually benefits Rugby league as to AFL.

as the AFL have 70% more advertising than a NRL game> on FTA

as soon as FOX announces the Sports back via Streaming
i will be ditching the $80 i pay a month and now going with Streaming Sports
as on NBN it is pretty good.

interesting times.
