Re: Options for a lopsided comp

Well we've just into round three. Suns kept two sides out of the eight last year . That's not too bad.
And after 3 rounds, the same bottom sides that were there at the end of last year are there again so far this year. It might mix up a bit after this round as most of the bottom sides are playing each other. But give it another couple of rounds and they will all still be the ready for second division. You have got to admit that. Therefore being ripe for an opinion being required from the AFL fans in relation to the options for the AFL lopsided comp.Phelpsy wrote:Well we've just into round three. I think you missed the wink there mate. For your info my spelling sucks and i have been drinking which doesnt help.Dogs wrote:Pies, if you are going to bag someone about being at a year 10 level, maybe check your spelling before posting your thoughts there pies. Just a suggestion.
On another note, 2nd placed Manly, beaten by 3rd placed Souths at manly's home ground. How close is the nrl comp. Dont forget souths only beat last placed bulldogs by a try and 2nd last warriors by a goal.
Not sure the bottom four in the AFL are getting close to the top 4.
Over the last few seasons we have had West coast go from last to top 4 two years in a row ( well almost) and now after 4 rounds they are struggling again despite being premiership favourites. Adelaide did the same last year and came from almost last and finished 2nd after the home and away. This year it might be Port Adelaide who have come from near the bottom and are currently sitting second. GC and GWS have struggled but they chose to go with a young team of the best talent avaliable rather the trading for mature talent with draft picks. Most see this as paying off in the medium term.Dogs wrote:And after 3 rounds, the same bottom sides that were there at the end of last year are there again so far this year. You only need read this thread to find links on last years AFL season being the most lopsided in history. Just quietly, I think there's a large chance AFL officials and media may have got wind of my early prophecy in this thread and done the numbers from there and found out that, yes, indeed 2012 was the most lopsided in AFL history.piesman2011 wrote:Sorry mate if you dont understand simple statistics maybe i didnt explain myself at your year 10 levelKing-Eliagh wrote:Oh pies, if only you knew. I've studied statistics at tertiary level my friend. What you are saying is gobbledigook because you are basing your comparative analysis on two completely different variables i.e. Marngrook results and RL results. I'm sorry matey, but you sir are the reason the saying there's lies, more lies and then there's statistics is valid. Now dont go patting yourself on the back for that one

Some more questions for you to consider in this lopsided debate where I'm kicking ass and the AFL supporters are like poor bastards stuck in quicksand. The more they squirm and wriggle, the more they sink deeper and deeper...and deeper. I'd like to send out a RIP to your lost comrades on that one pies - TLPG RIP, AFL 'Warrior' RIP, Beaussie - RIP. There may be more so please, respect them if you know them. I think Xman's just about gone in this debate too. His voice is gone for some time now so I think he's just gettin a few breaths out of his nose as he struggles and squirms deeper the poor bloody sod...:<>
Now where was i? That's right more questions for you to consider in this lopsided debate.
Has any media/officials in the NRL reported that the NRL is suffering from the most lopsided competition in its history? Have any media of significance reported the NRL is suffering from too many lopsided results?
I think you'll get a no and a no in answering those ones pies me boy. But if we switch AFL to NRL and I think we get a yes and a yes.![]()
Consider my bet please pies. I think it would be lovely for one of us to have the icing on the cake so to speak come end of season :D mmmm mmmmm..
Happy for you to show a link of an AFL officials statement that 2012 was the "worst season of all time" as you put it and even if you could find one, (which you wont) this still in no way has any relavence to 2013, which in my opinion has been a lot more competative although we are only four rounds in.
Now as to the bet im happy to bet that the bottom AFL team will be in front of the bottom NRL team points for divided by points against. As for the wins, like I said your lower points system will probably result in a few lucky wins for the bottom teams against top teams, more due to luck rather then overall talent and this along with 2 more rounds in the NRL (Thats not really a fair bet) will result in a victory for you on this one. If however you would take the bet i mentioned you would lose in my opinion and my bet is a lot more fair for overall performance.

KE however hates it when you turn his own thread on him, like I have done to some extent in this thread.Swans4ever wrote:Look for what its worth I agree with Queen-Eliagh, it is lopsided and will be so for a while, but like most things this can be circular, in that you can have years where the comp is even but you have one outright favourite, other years you can have a number of teams competing for the last space in the finals. I think RL had a similar problem when they introduced 2 new teams prior to the super league war. New sides unbalance the comp but I don't think its long term. I for one don't see it as an issue as time will balance things out.

And doesnt it tell a compelling story =D>
Watch he 2nd half of last nights game, or just the last quarter. Both were awesomeKing-Eliagh wrote:Port may well be an anomaly stewie. We'll have to wait and see. I havent had the fortune to watch them play this season but they've chalked up two wins outside the basketcase leaguers so they may well be out of their rut. Good for them if they are.
Noones perfect stewie me boy, not even me. But fukk i'm close. The basketcase league is just about as I predicted and in full swing again in 2013![]()
And what about brissie eh? After winning the preseason cup everyone thought they'd be contenders. Not me though. No, I picked em in the basketcase league![]()
