fact is everyone is treating ratings as a measure of popularity. If you want to do that with 2 sports that have completely different fixturing then do it using games that are comparable. When this is done the AFL wins.

What and the AFL wouldnt be taking less for

1. having full control of its fixture, and fixturing the entire season in advance
2. showing low rating games live into small AFL markets and allowing Seven to show Fox produced games in those markets
3. not having a night grand final despite the broadcasters wishes.

etc etc

The NRL have has full control over its draw.

Ch 7 plays them on a secondary channel same as Ch 9.

No, but all matches are played in Melbourne Fri night and the bottom sides are excluded.

Except its not the same and you know it.

Nine broadcast 3 games - the same three - across the entire country, regardless of team playing. Seven dont. Dont try and pretend its the same thing or your averages would tank on Melbourne storm ratings just like the AFL ones do on its expansion sides.

The bottom sides were not excluded from Friday nights this year either champ - they may not have had as much Friday exposure as some - but most teams got at least one Friday fixture.. Get with the times.

Considering its syd/Qld v a Melbourne/perth/Adelaide team . It would televised most weeks and would be a money spinner c h 7 money.

4 or 5 bottom teams - same as every other years
