Gold to the NRL, ok sure? We'll just let you ignore or under-rate the fact that at the end of the day the AFL is consistently paid more for its broadcasts - whatever the amount is. That will almost certainly be the case under the next media deal as well.

ooo but the AFL gets an extra game a week. True. And you get Origin, you get the ANZAC Test, and 4 nations. As are so rightly pointed out - the top 3 sports events ratings by some margin are Origin...and yet here we are. Almost literally gold, gold, gold to the AFL.

Bad luck old chaps.
Half dozen against your 20

when the half dozen are rep fixtures - including three of the top rating games on tv, compared to games broadcast almost exclusively into Queensland and NSW on 7mate - I dont think it matters that much.

bearing in mind the NRL deal also encompasses the NSW Cup, Holden Cup and Schoolboys competitions - as well as guaranteed hours on FTA tv, where the AFL seconds games are not included here.
And games aren't televised into there Selective states to maximise ratings .( 4 not counting Syd/Bris). All Friday night games are played in Victoria and more than 25% of your teams are banned from this timeslot - blah blah blah you've got nearly as many but but excuses as the rest of them. There's no shame in coming second, Embrace that Silver medal. Think about the poor Union and Socga fans . There probably in bed as we speak dreaming of silver medals :thumbleft:

Errr, many Friday night games were in Perth, I think a few in Sydney, and certainly many Thursday night games in Adelaide. None of our teams get the free ride like the Broncos, and all to maximise ratings given they represent your entire second biggest market on their own. Lol

Each code has their unique advantages and disadvantages. We have more games but less rounds, a better home and away comp but no rep games, less games in isolation but more games on FTA. About the only true comparisons for both codes are isolated games like finals, and the overall revenue.

We win both

all you have are but but excuses.

Again, its all Origin when it suits isnt it. Fascinating its not when you dont want it to be.

And i think we'll still take gold. After all, we get the money, no matter how pathetic your reasoning is. Oo we have less games - thats not our fucking fault. ooo we never had control of this or that...again, not our fault. So no, I think we'll be happy knowing we get paid more. Without New Zealand. But hey you enjoy those ratings.
We will enjoy winning again .
Thank you . & this thread is about ratings .
Not who got paid more .

& we win the ratings battle yet again .

The thread is a comparison of ratings as a guage of popularity. How else can you compare popularity in any meaningful way than compare similar formats? Its like saying soccer is more popular than the AFL because the world cup final gets a bigger audience than the AFL. Like for like the AFL win the vast majority of comparisons with the NRL. Yes SOO rates better, but all that shows is SOO is popular in its own right, even more so that the entire NRL comp. If the AFL had an identical format you may be able to make a meaningful comparison

Soo is over 3 games, not the entire season or year. Its unique to RL and doesnt lend to a comparison because other winter sports in oz dont have it. So well done, you win the most popular soo comparison, you lose the AFL v nrl comparison

And we have the gold for the most watched STV game, the gold for the most watched final, the gold for the most watched FTA game of the home and away season, and the gold for the most watched home and away season overall.

You have 3 games of SOO. Thats what it comes down to.

4 golds to 1 gold. Depending on this weekend it may be 5 to 1 too

Lol. Face it, the AFL have won 8 finals games on a row. All of them a fair and even comparison of one game v another under similar conditions.

Comparing the entire season with differences in the number of rounds, games, and schedules is meaningless by comparison
Are you serious or delirious pal????? So do you think Coles or Woollies look at the bottom line or hand pick their best performing brands and proclaim victory?? It's the bottom line pal, always was, always will be. The fumblers finals series has been good to them. The NRL's overall package will win the day - that's what ya call facts ya nong!!!
Lol, bottom line is the AFL earn more per season. Thanks Terry
An extra 20 Pay Tv games & around 15 more FTA games a year for 30 -40M [-( Talk about delusional :-k
And abot 80 less games in isolation. Youre the deluded one

I haven't seen you comment on the finals thrashings yet. Are you another who only discusses
You seem to be one who only wants to talk about ratings when the likes of Canberra and Penrith are playing. The football season (total season) are almost over and the results are in. and there the same as they were last year and the year before. Stop cherry picking and Face it, Rugby League rates better and its not hard to work out why, people prefer it to your obscenity of a game.

Its a disgrace that small children are allowed to watch your game!

enjoy your silver medal (if we didn't have losers we wouldn't have winners
