will be very interesting indeed.
at this Point AFL will take a huge hit, NRL will also but not as much, depending if they can get games televsied.
(clubs get grant from NRL just like AFL)
however LIC
GWS AND SUNS get considerably alot more to fund them
if the funding is not there, how do they go..
(i however think AFL will be saved by Government grant loans
which will take years to pay back

The Suns staff have been told to look for a job elsewhere from next year, according to one paper . Sound a bit like the domino effect has begun.

the AFL has money and assets and a far higher revenue and clubs can always tighten their belts & could easily borrow against their assets at worst case
nrlol has next to none of these and most clubs already running at losses
either way IMO pay cuts are needed. its not like they are minimum wage earners

Without 23 million plus handout how are these clubs going to survive?

I may be wrong but I thought the suns and gws handouts were not that much as some Melbourne clubs or at least the GAO wasn’t as large as some had thought? Maybe the figures need to go up again.

most your clubs are loosing money thickset like fishing it down the sinkhole, and ae on. life support from the nrlol or their owners and its well known the nrl isn't that cashed up and can't get a loan!
the AFL has money to burn and assets to borrow against

are you saying that SUNS have 5mill more than the Lions
and GWS 2 mill more than the Lions
and justifying that it is still all good.
Suns and Gws expenses keep getting higher..
should not they be getting lower.
especially GWS in Grand Final Year.
Be interesting to see the finding model Next year for these two lot

All those losses included the distribution money from the broadcast money that all clubs receive as similar in the nrl
So if you add in the losses to the nrlol clubs and the money their owners are having to throw in on top of their distribution money the numbers would be just as alarming for the nrlol clubs!
Potentially worse due to their pathetic revenue levels
But don’t let facts about the nrlol get in your way of thinking the AFL is in worse shape than the nrl

I’d think the difference of a few million would be acceptable and planned for. I think Gws is a long long way off where they need to be. They are barely a little fish in a big market but at least they have got a fish in the pond now. But the AFL are wise and know they need to be in the pond and to grow... but it’s a slow burn.
The Gold Coast is a different issue. The grassroots is well established and there are plenty of people who follow another team that but memberships and get along to games. The team just can’t take a trick and the public interest has fallen off dramatically. Win and that will help. This is a town of sporting club grave yards where even the local Rl team struggles. If same situation in two years I think you’ll start seeing alternate plans coming along and given more credence. They are losing money hand over foot and with the massive lose of money now hitting the league surely this is one area of saving that the AFL now have a get out of Gaol card for.
