MY Kitchen Rules,The Block,and sport are set to dominate the top TV events of 2014, according to OzTAM figures released today.
The AFL Grand Final between Sydney and Hawthorn will be the number one program of the year with a whopping 2.828 million viewers across Australia’s five biggest capital cities.
My Kitchen Rules — Winner Announced (2.712 million) and The Block — Glasshouse (2.687 million) will take positions two and three.

The results won’t change despite there being another two weeks until the end of the ratings year.
Networks are in the middle of a TV slump with the current batch of shows screening struggling to grab one million viewers per episode.
None of the current shows look like coming close to making the 2014 Top 50 let alone the Top 20.
The NRL Grand Final, won by the South Sydney Rabbitohs, came in fourth with 2.687 million viewers.
However, once regional audiences are added in, the NRL Grand Final (3.951 million) will outpoint the AFL Grand Final (3.513 million).

The second State of Origin Rugby League QLD v NSW match was fifth with 2.60 million viewers.
The AFL Grand Final Presentations (2.565 million) and the first State of Origin Rugby League QLD v NSW match (2.530 million) came in sixth and seventh.
The Top 10 was fleshed out with My Kitchen Rules — Grand Final (2.408 million), The Block: Glasshouse — Auctions (2.379 million), and The Block: Fans v Faves — Auctions (2.271 million).

The ratings for The Block: Fans v Faves, won by Chantelle Ford and Steve O’Donnell, were boosted by the presence of controversial twins Alisa and Lysandra Fraser. The Block: Glasshouse grabbed ratings, and headlines, when contestant Deanne Jolly labelled judge Shaynna Blaze a bogan from Wantirna.

Another program to perform strongly was Seven miniseries INXS: Never Tear Us Apart, featuring Luke Arnold as rocker Michael Hutchence. Part 1 (2.243 million) and Part 2 (2.081 million) both landed in the Top 20.

The launch episode of The Voice (2.229 million) and The Melbourne Cup — The Race (2.178 million) also made the Top 20.
A surprise performer was House Rules — Winner Announced which landed in 17th spot with 2.07 million viewers.
The only major TV finales left in 2014 are for Dancing with the Stars, Big Brother, The Big Adventure and Beauty and the Geek Australia — but none are predicted to get blockbuster figures.
