Poor 'ol llllloller is arguing TV viewing is down overall - yes it is by 4% - but in the context of AFL V NRL it is meaningless. The NRL is holding firm against the trend while the AFL is massively ahead of it - 4% v 18%. You cannot put both codes in the same basket.
of course it's not meaningless, and it's more than 4% too. It's a trend affecting every network that will also affect every sport

Facts say that the AFL is NOT the most watched .
You can repeat it all you want.
It doesn't change reality.
You're drifting further & further into some alternate fantasy world .

the ratings figures dont account for anything but an average of that program. On their own they would suggest a 5 minute program is more watched than a 5 hour program

well thank goodness there isn't a team sport that goes for 5mins than..
I think you should Email Gill>> and go Gill can you shorten our game so we can maybe get a better average..

the Melbourne cup goes for 10 minutes or so, and the ratings are excellent. However, does that show it's 'more watched' than a game of AFL with a little less ratings?

again, you guys are missing the point. I'm not complaining about the scheduling, I'm disputing the fact the raw ratings can be directly compared to a program that is far shorter and scheduled in a completely different way

The poor buggar is arguing against cold hard facts!!!!! Wookie has reported that AFL FTA is down OVER 20% & Fox down 13.9% - down about 18% overall. That is truly catastrophic!!!!! Meanwhile the NRL is up just short of 1% overall. Those numbers are stark, absolute oppostites!!!!! One in freefall and the other holding firm at worst.
And then the poor dill goes on about kids streaming & watching netflix & movies etc. Yep probably the case. But it isn't effecting the NRL's numbers but most certainly seems to be with the AFL. Once again you cannot say all sports are effected because the NRL isn't.
The facts ma'am.....just the facts!!!!!
Other facts to be aware of
According to Roy
"The cumulative live audience for NRL games in Australia has been 43.0 million for the first 11 Rounds, compared to 43.3m last year. The AFL’s cumulative live audience is 36.9m for its first 9 rounds, compared to 42.9m last year."
* The NRL Season starts two weeks before the AFL season
* 3.9m watch the NRL per round according to Roy (I make it 3.98)
* 4.1m watch the AFL per round according to Roy ( I dont have an accurate figure)
No problem with any of that Wookie. But it is also pertinent that:
* The NRL has one less game per round.
* The home tv ratings of one of our teams (Warriors) are not counted in Roys numbers.

I think you'll find the tv ratings for the Warriors were counted in Roys numbers. He specifically mentions they are up 2o odd percent from memory.
He got his numbers from oztam.......so unless they now call themselves anzactam that ain't correct. And in any case I have tracked the Australia only ratings for the NRL from mediaweek and decider tv this year & Roy's numbers represent Australia only.
