Anybody know the final ratings for the NRL GF in melbourne?
475,000 before they adjusted the prelim results.
Impressive ratings in melbourne with no Storm in GF.

NRL GF 3.951m + NZ 184k
Up against THE X FACTOR LIVE PERFORMANCE 874k lowest xfactor to date.
What was the AFL GF up against during the day time game?
Nothing it was up against nothing and the NRL still wiped the floor with it. =D> =D>

Wait wait on .
Remember the excuses trotted out by fumble fans a few yrs ago .
Apparently a huge part of the TV audience was lost to the Fumble final as Bunnings were open,& Coles had a "Specials "day.
If people would prefer to buy a garden hose or a can of baked beans than watch some fumbling derpers then they were not fans or wanting to watch the game anyway.
but but but but but.
Anyone who is rostered to work can usually find someone (not into sport) who is willing to swap shifts.

THE NRL has declared Sunday’s grand final between South Sydney and Canterbury the most-watched club game in the code’s history.
The Rabbitohs’ 30-6 win was the highest-rating NRL match of all time across five city markets, with the Nine Network reporting a national peak audience of 4.6 million.
That figure surpassed the national audience for the AFL Grand Final between the Sydney Swans and Hawthorn, which was clocked at just over 3.5 million.
Rugby league now has the top three TV programs of the year across a national audience in State of Origin games one and two as well as the Grand Final.
A record crowd of 83,833 attended the game between the Sydney rivals, the biggest for a sporting event since the stadium was reconfigured in 2001 after the Olympic Games.

NRL chief Dave Smith said the figures demonstrated the strength of rugby league in Australia.
“This has been a big season for the NRL and[the grand final] had everything — sheer determination and courage from our amazing athletes mixed with the tradition and history of two strong clubs,” Smith said.
“The atmosphere was incredible and, matched by a big crowd, it was a wonderful finale to a massive season.
“About 16 million people across the country watched rugby league over the finals series, which demonstrates the game is in a strong and healthy shape.”

Replace Bunnings and Coles with Payless Shoes and Lowes for Collingwood supporters.....
Prime time games have to compete with Prime time programming
It is not a forgone conclusion that the AFL will improve its GF ratings up against Prime time shows as apposed to ready steady cook.

great result for the NRL last night. Obviously a fair few occasional viewers watched to see the Bunnies win
having said that, im glad the AFL value tradition over ratings. Id hate to see them abandone a Saturday arvo GF for prime time. Some things shouldnt be messed with no matter what the financial incentive

Values tradition hey...

Like that time old tradition of cutting to a add break after every Goal, missing the crowd atmosphere and jubilation.
The AFL sold its soul to television a long time ago.
The AFL will have a night time GF eventually you will see.

Apparently Origin 1, 2 and the NRL grand final all out rated the AFL grand final.

There is a reason why football is a winter sport. Is impossible for Athletes to produce there best when it's 32degress On a sweltering October day. The AFL have no worries however, medal presentations can be held at anytime of day

Thanks Wookie. Well done nrl on winning the gf ratings this year. A great effort. Wonder if this will see the AFL offer a night grand final on next rights deal ? I hope not but I think it is coming given the evidence.

i hope not too. The value in a product isnt a single event, its week after week. i hope they dobt bow to any perceived pressure to increase ratings at the expense of cash. We already have the number one broadcast deal
