Yeah, it's rep ball, and relevant to all RL fans, and relevant to all sports fans from NSW and QLD. It is not a sign of NrL strength. It's a sign of rep ball strength.
VFL is withering ... it has a very ordinary club comp
&
pass the salt
Yet it beats all other Australian comps put together! =D>
136 Million veiwers to 122 Million
says different
RL SOO II 4.194 Million veiwers
RL SOO I 4.068 Million
NRL GF 3.968 Million
VFL Grand Final 3.620 Million
SOO III 3.364 Million
NRL Prelim 2.219 Million
Kangaroos V NZ 1.214 Million
You can repeat that dodgy, rubbish stat all you like Raider and co. None of us and more importantly those that matter... the tv networks are falling for it.
$1,253 Billion for the AFL (another record media rights deal for the No. 1 sporting code in this great country of ours).
When you have as many clubs as we do dependent on annual support from the AFL, very few, if any, of their presidents of administrations are prepared to speak up because they're fearful of the ramifications and intimidation that will followThe welfare of the 18 clubs, half of them will be receiving special assistance payments from the AFL in order to continue to operate or be more competitive. I've always argued that if 50 per cent of the clubs need financial support then you have a very real problem. Those who will be receiving that assistance, the chances of them rebounding financially in the next five years is very limited.
It's not that many years ago that Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood almost bit the dust. Ian Dicker, Eddie McGuire and Frank Costa came in and started running the clubs from a financially commercial basis. Delivering premierships is our goal, but in order to compete for that you've got to run the clubs as businesses. Unfortunately many of those businesses have not been run successfully enough to be independent of the mothership, which is the AFL and we're now in a situation where those clubs, in real terms, are under administration.

15 years ago these clubs did not nearly fold. They came to a cross road where they needed to adopt better business to become Independant of AFL assistance. Seriously, how does a club with the support of collingwood cease to exist?
Jeff is having a crack at the other clubs in the comp for not following Hawthorns lead and becoming totally financially Independant of the AFL through better business practices. In other words he is like the kid who doesn't get special treatment from mum and dad because the isnt the one who is sick. Hes having a massive sook with his own team as the agenda.
King-Eliagh: ...I believe [RL] is popular in all the other states and territories, bar tasmania.
Why did the AFL lover say it if it wasn't true? Maybe he is over emphasising his point a little but do you honestly think he would tell the Media a bold faced lie? Surely the AFL would sue him if there was no substance to it.

He is (was) a club president. His club were indeed in some trouble many years ago but did some fantastic work to now be considered a power in the league. He is expressing his frustration that other clubs have not followed suite but are still putting their hand out for assistance. His agenda is clear and was seen that way by the AFL media and supporters.

"When you have as many clubs as we do dependent on annual support from the AFL", This aticle was dated late last year.
"very few, if any, of their presidents of administrations are prepared to speak up because they're fearful of the ramifications and intimidation that will followThe welfare of the 18 clubs, half of them will be receiving special assistance payments from the AFL in order to continue to operate or be more competitive." Hmm
"Those who will be receiving that assistance, the chances of them rebounding financially in the next five years is very limited." Hmm
"It's not that many years ago that Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood almost bit the dust." Hmm
"we're now in a situation where those clubs, in real terms, are under administration." Hmm very insightful stuff.
Well done Jeff! At last someone is speaking out against the inhouse policies of the AFL. =D> =D> =D>

You're still not getting the Text of what he's saying. He's not complaining that the competition is not viable he's complaining that there're some things that he believes in unfair invented. Jeff is well-known for his unusual outbursts is rarely taken seriously by the media or the AFL fans.
One thing you do not understand is that AFL clubs do not have private owners they are owned by the AFL and the members. Some clubs are better off than others and the AFL do make some hand out payments to help the clubs less well off. This does not please Jeff but unfortunately for him he doesn't run the competition. Jeff is essentially complaining that the club should be more responsible for their own finances and not just rely on the AFL to help them out.

And probably a good analogy. Some clubs would prefer to maintain their current business principles and rely on regular handouts than make the required effort to change and become totally Independant. Well that's how it looks on the surface anyway.
Having said that I support a team that has more annual revenue than 3 NRL clubs put together.
King-Eliagh: ...I believe [RL] is popular in all the other states and territories, bar tasmania.
It's not that many years ago that Hawthorn, Geelong and Collingwood almost bit the dust.
And now they're power clubs.
It's the nature of football.
I'd be worried about raiders, sharks and tittians before anything else.
Hawthorn, Geelong, Collingwood arent these three of your biggest clubs? lop sided scorelines, tanking, clubs receiving handouts to survive, wow, what a great game just the nature of football

Your code has lopsided scour lines too! 18-0 twice in the last 2 rounds. Infant almost half the NRL games so far have involved on team more than doubling the score of the other.
Tanking is a myth and nothing more than a media beat up. Any speculation will now be a thing of the past now anyway because the compensation for finishing last has been significantly reduced.
As for handouts, they keep our teams healthy which is more than I can say for a large proportion of NRL teams. Some have no major sponsor, one can't even afford a CEO . The AFL support teams going through financial difficulty until they find stability.
Oh and the game you are criticizing leaves yours for dead!
King-Eliagh: ...I believe [RL] is popular in all the other states and territories, bar tasmania.

Yes you are an "infant". In RL a score which doubles another score can be a very close match indeed. 'Infact' Xman you infant, as has been proven this season a score of 16-8 is often an game which goes down to the last 3mins.
Please amuse us some more and tell us which level of maths you completed in your schooling?
Based on your understanding above I'm thinking you got to year 7 and then flunked out as your brain failed to expand after the age of 12.

Tertiary level maths, bachelor of physics to be exact dipshit.
What part of my comment was incorrect? None. There were still many games where the score differential was more than double.
The fact is if a team can only score 6 points over almost an entire game it is very unlikely they will score another 12 in quick time. Sure it happens from time to time but so do 5-10 goal comebacks in AFL.
The claims that the score lines in NrL are somehow closer that's AFL are rubbish because they do not take into account the low scoring nature of RL.
I do however realize this concept is beyond your comprehension.
