Have to agree- NRL are going ahead in leaps in bounds it seems - I do think that AFL is doing better in non traditional markets of Sydney and Brisbane - than say, NRL is doing in Melbourne, South and West Australia. - but again, watch this space with a new team in Perth. V'Landy's should be offerred a shit load of cash to take over the AFL - god knows the current last few heads have been shit - AFLx anyone.
I stand by my statement that PERTH into terms of Crowds and Membership and tv ratings will be bigger than the Storm
SPORT is a business, i do not think PVL would go to the AFL

money does talk i guess
AFL over pass 20 years, AFL has done a way better job in NSW AND QLD to vice versa what the NRL has done, that is 100%
on every level pretty much.
(things are changing though especially last couple of years.
with NRL targeting VICTORIA AND PERTH>> and the RISE OF NZ RUGBY LEAGUE>

I think Perth will do well initially - that is never the issue usually - it is long-term I think they may struggle - or that's where it has the potential to go wrong - or very right - they need to get the rusted on support for when the team does not go so well - Perth is somewhat like the gold coast - where we have seen teams struggle when doing poorly - and the population are bandwagon jumpers.

i dont think it will be easy, the PERTH BEARS CLUB will still need to be run very professionally to crack the market.
Just going off the stats
20,000 members signed in 5 days (and BEARS SHUT IT OFF) as these are for 1st in for ticketed seats at HBF PARK which only fits 20k
they are predicting a sell out every game
and BIG GAMES AT OPTUS> to reach very big numbers.
BEARS are expecting upwards of 40k members 1st season alone.
SPONSORSHIP at the Moment is at record levels. where there jersey is worth 6.5mill per season.
Grassroots bigger than Victoria.
this alone never happened to the STORM until 20 years later.
PERTH have beat STORM even before playing a game (in the stats) business sides of things
