The interpretation of most watched is debatable - I have said all year that average is prefered, but I think theres a happy medium between reach and average that better reflects the AFL position.

AFL membership began with the VFL in the early 80s - records for most clubs start in 1984,
the NRL didnt begin pushing them until 2011 and then stopped again
AFL total memberships this year 1.319 million
Total NRL memberships this year will be about 400,000 or about where the AFL was in 1998. (26 years ago)

AFL crowds this year 7,753,251 at 37,455
NRL crowds this year 4,114,869 at 20,171
NRL crowds are where the AFL was in1992,-1993 - 31 years ago,.

If you are going to be stupid and claim something like "most eyeballs" its best you know what the fuck you are talking about. The NRL wins average ratings. No question. But thats not what you said and that is not the same thing as most eyeballs watching - which is literally what Reach measures.

The validity of Reach is somewhat arguable as its based on a mimimal amount of time spent watching. Ive never waivered on this.
