We will never know what the real numbers are for AFL players in the northern states because fumblehouse does not report them after the Lawson report debacle of 2012 into Sydney numbers.

In that report under the appropriate heading 'The reality versus perception gap' it stated that the reality was that there were 6% less youth players in 2012 than there was in 2009. However the perception was that game was growing well. The perception was supported by 'masking' low junior club numbers with auskick and school programs.

So there ya have it - from the AFL's own report - basically they tell lies about playing numbers.

Since 2012 they have never made public any figures about actual playing numbers. They only waffle on about participation numbers and how they're going through the roof. It's propaganda BS.

If the actual playing numbers were rapidly improving there is no doubt that fumblehouse would be shouting it from the rooftops. The fact that they aren't tells the story.

A lot is smoke & mirrors
Put up Aflol posts so that the image is of Aflol being played there .
Get into schools
Have school Auskick as a sport ( kids ..umm do I play this or sit in the classroom or library )
They play with very very few having any interest in the game or playing in a suburban comp
Shout about participation numbers .
Lol

Can we have real registered players in regular comps
It's not much to ask for
Unless you're an aflol official

I do agree the AFL is largely full of propaganda bulldust: atleast Sam Newman says something defiant toward/about that exact end from time to time!

Yes good point . I was thinking comparatively to say Rl numbers in Victoria wa sa tassie.

Gold Coast we have a large junior league with some age groups have 2 or sometimes 3 divisions given the numbers. Then you have the adult leagues .. there are 2 to three of these I believe at varying levels.

Brisbane also has a very strong league for adult and juniors. On the Sunshine Coast it is not as big but they do have a junior league with several teams across several age groups and divisions in some given the numbers. Also adult Lrague as well. So from that there are obviously a lot of people playing the game. I agree the word massive is subjective and in comparison to Rl and indeed soccer, it may not be as high, it is still a sport with a large following and good participation numbers.

Take into account also that the schools competition I went to the other day on the Sunshine Coast ... 520 teams playing in the Como this year up from 419. That’s just independent state schools. That’s a lot of kids playing AFL right across the state. Whereas Rl n Victoria ..... south Australia tassie ... you’d pretty much have to play in a state based competition although a couple of new clubs in vic I believe.

A quick search and here are the qld clubs ... just senior clubs I believe.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of ... Queensland

And this from aflq that dissects where the participants come from so highlights what is Auskick, what are intro, number of club players etc. now it may be no where near as Rl or soccer but it is hardly minuscule either.

Left this link off re last paragraph. http://www.aflq.com.au/2016-participati ... ueensland/

Also, you can’t deny the amount of clubs listed in the wiki thread.

The graph at the bottom breaks down the numbers and you will see registered club players in there. I’m sure you’ll find something to disagree with in it.

I am guessing you want registered player numbers from a source that isn’t the AFL ? Is that correct ?

Again... I point to the number of clubs and teams ... these teams are being filled with people .... so maybe that will satisfy however I do believe you are questioning those teams as listed on wiki? Is that correct.

Then we could use the amount of Queenslanders on AFL lists as an indicator??

The participation numbers that the AFL and nrlll release
The AFL numbers
Are far more accurate when you compare them to the organisations who collected the stats
Abs
Erass
Roy Morgan etc

G&GF with this blatant lying dribble
The nrlol is by far the worst their is at it

So which figures could be provided that would suit you? If there are none than that’s fine. We can all stop looking if what ever is presented is seen by you as deficient.

One thing you can’t deny is the amount of players on AFL lists fro qld .... I think that is one good indicator .

Also 520 teams playing in a state based school competition. And that’s just independent state schools.
