GWS were 6 goals down mid way through the 3rd quarter after starting the quarter well. Even that lead is far from over in the modern game.

The only game that was 'over' early was the Swans v Ess.

Well we're now half way into week two of the finals and ... The shithouse matches in the AFL continue! I was right in my analysis a week ago and I'm right again now. It's just massively boring finals footy in the AFL, there's simply no denying it.

In stark comparison, the NRL final tonight was another absolute ripper with the game in the balance with just four minutes left. Edge of seat stuff, as finals footy should well be! The AFL match still has more than 15 minutes as I write and its over, the swans have no chance. In fact, they were looking like no chance at half time

So the scoreboard for quality games in finals footy as it stands right now?

NRL - 5 absolute ripping down to the wire thrillers out of 5 games.
AFL - four absolute borefests and one thriller out of 5 games.

at the end of the season there were only 5 wins difference between 1st and 10th in the AFL. There was only 10 wins difference between 1st and 18th. In the NRL there was 9 wins difference between 1st and 10th, and a massive 15 win difference between 1st and 16th
