Went to my first rl game: under 14 boys. Wasn't too bad actually to watch. Like sports at that age the good players hog it a lot and other kids run through the motions. What I did see was this kid who was huge. Fortunately he was so big (morbidly obese) he couldn't run. If he was slightly fit and could run ( he would shuffle with about 3 or 4 kids hanging off him) he would kill some of those kids. There was another kid too who was huge and could see the need for weight divisions.

Also noted a totally different demographic. Nice enough people and all .. salt of the earth really. Just a different demographic between the two codes. I'm sure different again for union but not sure too much union left on the coast.

The Swans have been around 30 plus years in Sydney with plenty of history.

The Roosters and Melbourne have zero history in Adelaide. And there is no local NRL team there to follow either.

So docker the dickhead your comparing apples with oranges.

Maybe a comparison with AFLs exhibition matches in New Zealand is a fairer comparison which only got 12,000 last time they played there.

AFL exhibition matches have since been cancelled in Wellington.

Yep ... still difficult for many kids to play rl however in many parts of each state. That's were they need to work at alongside the games at nrl level ... but a good start. South Aussies are more parochial than Victorians about their footy lol

Rugby codes will never be as popular as other codes for kids.

it is too Physical of a Sport (that turns a lot of mummies off)

OZ tag however should continue to grow.

Adelaide is an AFL town,
just like Sydney is an NRL town..

the fans that showed up to Adelaide to watch a non Adelaide game
shows there is potential in this city..

who for them really only have 1 winter sport code to follow.

Sydney yes do have a following..
but it is not as big as Swannies makes it out to be..
