I don't why the AFL types get so uptight about SOO. I guess they just don't understand it so they criticise it and are probably jealous of the ratings and exposure it gets. Maybe they should just stick to watching AFL and forget SOO if it upsets them that much.

we understand it fine, we had it and it died a natural when our comp went national. Thats one thing the NRL has going for it, 2 state rivals

so why does every discussion with backward ball fans turn to SOO?

"We beat you week after week on Friday nights"
"But just you wait til origin"

"Another great crowd for the AFL and dismal showing for the NRL"
"But just you wait til origin"

Same shit every year
It doesn't. We beat you at club level, as you already are well aware and when Origin is added we smash you.
No you don't

That's actually right....SOO was an AFL idea that League ran with. I don't think the AFL going national had anything to do with why they canned SOO though. The reason was no state could match Victoria year in year out in a SOO format. They just have too many players at the top level for WA or SA to compete year on year. NSW and Qld are much closer in population so the talent and player strength is much closer meaning every year it is a great contest. That's why it is what it is.

it was more than that. Once some of the competitions best players were being drafted from QLD NSW and TAS there was no way of including them in a game between Vic and WA/SA. So they tried an allies team which had no meaning or following. Having only 2 evenly matched states is the crucial factor in making it work

Usually making absurd statements is a sure sign of delusion - if you were beating us at club level your tv rights would be worth more it ain't - will I'll concede it's close still no cigar - every other KPI your soundly beaten.

All you Losers, I mean all you runners up. Stop fooling yourselves and try facing up to reality. The movie that gets watched/viewed the most is number one - numero uno ! Regardless of production costs or who starred in the movie, or what other excuses you want to make :blahblah: :blahblah: :blahblah: its NUMBER 1 ie. The most popular. Same as a record in the charts only in Rugby League's case it's number 1 -> with a bullet.

movies are a stupid analogy since they are shown at multiple times per day and night.

SOO is shown midweek, against no other sport and in prime time. No non-prime time shows ever make the top rating shows of the year, except the AFL GF

I agree , what the movie bring in at the box office . Viewers who have watched the movie/match not networks. Billy Blogs and Rupert Murdoch are totally equal in this regard, So yes the the most popular is the one most viewed. Yes, a pretty good analogy if I do say myself

assuming all movies are shown under similar conditions. otherwise popularity isnt indicated accurately. Otherwise the AFL is many times more popular than the NRL on Saturday night

Yes I agree with your analogy - and it's the TICKETS sold not how many watched on tv that count that's why they count a week's earning to determine the winner - so AFL has 3 X the people attending and make twice the money - clearly AFL it's GOLD, GOLD, GOLD!!!!! NRL not even close and gets a participation medallion!
