Doesn't the AFL deal now place the NRL at a disadvantage - ch 9 has all the good games - a NRL match is half as long as an AFL match, so all there is left is some pretty boring matches that go for half the time of an AFL match - no amount of Sterlo and Matty Johns shows is going to make up for that - what if Fox come back with only 100 mil a year? that's only 500 mil online content is not going to be worth 1 billion - Fox could well only give what they can afford and not what it's valued at now the AFL has taken a hugh piece of the pie. You've summed it up well there. How keen would you be if you were Foxtel or Telstra now that you now what's on offer. The dregs leftover from Channel 9 are worth very little you'd think.

what if FOX Simulcast all games same as the AFL

channel 9 have 4 games.
channel 7 have 3/4 games.

its pretty much the same and FTA for NRL paid more.

so why cannot fox do the same

If worse came to worst he NRL has full control over scheduling . The 4 remaing matches (dregs according to you > ) could be sold as Sunday night being the match of the round. Sat. twilight being the 2nd best and so on. You would only have to do it for a year and Rupert would come crawling back cap in hand. Or these games could be given away to the networks
in some type of profit sharing joint venture. But a much more likely scenario is Rupert will buy all 8 matches for the true market value and we will be ahead of you even before we get our internet money

By the way Beau, those so called 'Dregs' games have a higher Average than the AFL has on pay TV.
