Looks like the mod thinks soo is a gimmick as well.

I mean 89,000 watched in Adelaide last night - its more than watched league all year in Adelaide, the game isnt even shown live this year, except on Sunday afternoons - and even then only recently. The Perth ratings are about 40% of the entire season shown so far.
Yes its a series of theatre events outside of NSW and QLD.
Who gives a flying fuck why they watch it mr green with envy, they are watching.

Yep, people had to actually pay to watch the storm if they wanted too and not have them shoved down their throat continually untill most got the shits and started turning the tv over whenever they were mentioned.
Over saturation they call it.

it burns as much as 4 million watching the soccer WC. Everyone knows soccer is a minor sport in Australia, and thr ratings relate to the event, not the sports popularity in Australia

But that's a small price to pay for having the biggest sporting event in the country.

a small price to pay 3 games state vs state, then the other 362 days of the year are irrelevant and every other game that is played of league is irrelevant?
where does every one go such a huge event, SOO state vs state, people have an excuse for a mid week socal event, piss up with mates.
but where does all the fans do after SOO
its simple state vs state, mid week socal BBQ & piss up when the game is over people get on with their life & League goes back to being irrlevant again

No one doubts the SOO is a major event, but to claim the affect on your regular season is small is ridiculous.

small price to pay? You obviously dont place much value on your NRL season.
That's the main reason the SOO in AFL fizzled out. Players and fans didnt want a meaningless game threatening their AFL season with players risking injury
