I really don't get why AFL and tough is ever used in the same sentence.
Nothing tough about dog shotting someone or pulling someones shirt.

Rugby League
Rugby Union
Ice Hockey
Grid Iron

all make AFL look like netball. Your code is way behind all four.

Pretty easy to brace for a hit you know is coming - try getting hit when your not expecting it - try backing into a back, try marking a ball over your opponent with your arms outstretched unable to protect yourself, try evading tackles coming from 360 degrees not just one direction most of all try doing this for 4 x 30 min periods where they stop the clock whenever the ball is not in play! Yep it was proved with Folaou and Hunt it is tougher than anything in RL, have to be fitter, better skilled and have a brain! There is simply no contest!

Oh no here we go with the 360 degrees lol. =D> Those tackles in your AFL video were soft as bananas man. Most were just guys bumping into each other. =D> =D>

Two guys running head on at full speed with bulk is always going to hurt more. You guys are well behind the other 3 oval ball codes as well as Ice hockey. Nice try lol

you're not seriously defending two players senselessly running into each other? :(/

Thats the most hilarious part of RL, mindless collisions again and again. Like watching a pole being driven into the ground. So predictable, so boring.

What ever happened to evasion? Passing the ball? Something different?

Have you seen players like Matt Moylan and Greg Inglis how they evade taclers to get tries?

Mean while in AFL you guys are so stupid you don't get penalised for not being able to catch and or dropping the ball constantly. Yep a game of skill lol
Then you get a point for not kicking straight and have no crossbar to make it even easier to score

No wonder no other country has ever taken up AFL seriously lol. =D> =D>

And guess what, no other country ever will :_<> :_<>

Man have you ever watched the NBA? Guys bump into each other all the time.

Iv'e seen play after play in the NRL where the person with the ball runs full pace into a wall of defenders, no thought of evasion or passing. Then the odd pass is thrown, a kick is taken, and it all starts again. Wow, such skill

So, come on, you made the claim there are harder hits in basketball. Man up and show them, not bumps, full body hits that render players unconscious or incapacitated

Yep and that's why only 7k bothered to turn up in Sydney on Friday night!!!! Because it is sooooo entertaining! Hahaha seriously dude give up running with a ball under you arm in a straight line is not hard - try bouncing a ball, marking over head, hand passing, kicking on the run over 50 meters(that's half the distance of a RL field) there is no comparison as for the scoring that's what makes the game different - it's not exactly hard to touch a ball on the ground when you have 68 meters to do it in! Even then RL players regularly drop the ball then have a scrum (which is not a scrum like RU where you CAN lose the scrum!). It's a joke!

Looked like less than half that at the last gws match in Western Sydney on the weekend lol

But I am sure AFL will inflate the numbers to give that AFL basket case some dignity :(/ :(/

I agree scrums in Rugby League are pointless and they probably will go.

Saying that, getting a point for missed shots at goal and having no crossbar anywhere really takes the skill level in AFL goals to pretty much zero skill.

Then you have the constant drop balls, wrestling on the ground to get the ball. Everyone falling over lol.. No strict rules for a foot being out. =D> =D> =D>

AFL has fuck all chance of any serious international following due to the poor scoring skills. Is just a fact man.
Apparently AFL has been trying for years in the UK with no real success and AFL has been around in New Zealand as long as Rugby League and still nothing decent there lol :(/ :(/

Now if AFL was such a skilled and respected game, why does it have next to no luck with strong overseas support??

Whether it's followed or played overseas is hardly the point - Australia's geographic location and isolation account for this - but by the same token why has NZ win the International cup??? Why has PNG why has Ireland, why does USA and Canada compete every year????? It's because although it has taken a long time it is starting to gain niche support.
But again why is this important to you do you need some validation from this fact????
Try the game before you bag it and if you like something it shouldn't matter who else likes it - that's part of having an adult perspective!

It is the point because if a sport is seen as skilled and respected, it gains more support globally. Which is not the case for AFL.
Those are tiny niche teams in those countries you mention. Rugby League has teams in all those nations too. If the AFL international cup had any real quality about it. It would be televised.
No TV network wants to show the AFL international cup the standard must be that amateur.

Rugby Leagues world cup is Televised and has people that want to watch it.

I know I would have no trouble scoring in AFL. Conversion kicks and field goals were my specialty when I played Rugby League. And AFL goals have no crossbar.
Plus I could catch bombs really well being a fullback. Distant running I admit I would struggle with in AFL as I am built more like a sprinter.
Plus most league players would hit a player if they constantly tugged on their shirt and man handled them like they do in AFL. Such dirty dumb play.

You look at how much they drop the ball in AFL and how many goals would miss if there was a crossbar or no extra side goals.
You can try all the convincing you want, most people outside of AFL circles will always see the sport as unskilled.
