Sure do, on Saturday night. But there's no NRL game on FTA to compare it to. Still doesnt discount my original claim that the AFL's ANZAC day game is the highest rating home and away game for either code by quite some margin

Yes Your Anzac day game rates High its a Good number.. (AFL)

But a lot of NRL games of FTA rate between 1.0 -1.3 Mill
Which is Excellent..

AFL can not get this.. besides the Anzac Day game

But Yes Your Top AFL Game on Anzac Day is the highest rating game of the year in normal rounds...
wrong again.

Essendon’s Round 7 blockbuster against Geelong at Etihad Stadium on Friday night was the most-watched Friday night game since the current ratings system began in 2001 with a total audience of 1.545 million viewers on free to air and subscription television - See more at: http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2013- ... wl8vj.dpuf

Ok fair Enough..
That is one game.. maybe a couple more if you can find it..
x 2 coverage though which helps pull abit more in.

anyways
NRL rates A lot better on Friday Night.

and yes Your Anzac day game is higher.
the NRL combine 2 games into one telecast on FN, with one game engaging an entire city of 2mil. They should win every single FN with that arrangement, but it costs them 2 of their 3 FTA games to do it. The AFL often still win these FN battles with only a single game involving 2 Melbourne teams. Then the AFL still have 3 more FTA games for the weekend and rate well on Saturday and Sunday with no comparison from the NRL

Ummm, it hasn't always been two games on a Friday ](*,)

The NRL rated quite well back then too, that's why the two biggest bozos in the media world went hammer and tong over it.

Calm down Dave.
The Leaguies were in town to launch this match and as usual weren’t afraid to make one or two extravagant claims, chief executive Dave Smith stating that SOO is “the biggest annual sporting event on the Australian calendar” and Gallen adding (hoping?) that 100,000 would watch it at the G.

Smith seems to have overlooked the AFL Grand Final and the Melbourne Cup, which actually do pull near enough to 100,000 people most years.

The rugby league? Well, the first time SOO came to the “G” in 1994 it pulled an impressive 87,161 for a match AFL guru John Kennedy famously described as “all sizzle and no sausage.”

Subsequent visits in 1995 and 1997 drew 52,994 and 25,015 _ so a full house this time seems a tad optimistic.

100 plus years of never expanding out of NSW and QLD
Australian sporting sponsorship
AFL excess of $50m
A league $30 million plus
ARU $27 million
NRLOL $25 million

Yeah that's why we have a Melbourne team a Canberra team and NZ team in the NRL with a PNG team and soon to be Fijian team in the lower tiers, no, no expansion at all.

Never expanding out of NSW and Qld??

So I guess Melbourne Storm and Auckland Warriors are located in NSW & Qld too according to you? =D>

Rugby League can claim more than Aussie Rules.

Professional Rugby League teams in New Zealand, France, England and Australia. Aussies Rules is meanwhile living up to it's name as being only Australias game and no one elses.

NRL will be in Perth in a couple years..

So I guess the NRL has covered more of AUSTRALIA then the AFL anyways...

Yeah when NRL expand to Perth it will be probably called a NSW team too according to the AFL logic.
:(/ :(/

What is even funnier is the Swans and Lions actually are a Victorian relocation teams. While Melbourne Storm and Auckland Warriors started from scratch.

Club teams

Biggest AFL teams in the world, one would be Collingwood, could one argue Geelong or Carlton (I don't know, I need some AFL fans help with that one)
Question, do they get over 90,000 at the MCG for regular season games? Yes

Biggest Football teams in the world, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City???? Barcelona, Chelsea.
Do they sell out or get over 90,000 people at the MCG, well Man City v Real, yes they do

Biggest League teams in the world? South Sydney, Brisbane Broncos, Roosters?
Do they sell out the MCG or get over 90,000, nope hell two of those teams couldn't even get more than 30,000 to ANZ in their own city.
Lol. Well said Sir.

Bzzt the Lions arent a relocation team. The Fitzroy football club still exist - in the VAFA - and its literally the same organisation. Its AFL license and 8 players were handed to the Brisbane bears under a merger agreement that was most certainly not a relocation.

AS for expansion teams being called NSW teams..rugby league fans on this forum routinely called the AFL the VFL. So sort that out, and we might give a shit.
Well Sydney Swans are a relocation you can not deny that and the Swans had a long history in Melbourne.

While Melbourne Storm started from nothing in an AFL mad city.
