'make it' doesnt mean cash dumbo, it means became a regular player at a minimum. Neither did so which seems to contradict the premise of this thread wouldnt you say?

hahaha and that AFL player to never play 1st grade for the western reds actually as it stated grew up in Canberra, so he would've have known RL and iirc had played it as a junior.

Fail again.

like how 2 of NRL premier players, top of their game where given a free ride in to the AFL, an opportunity to represent 2 young and up and coming sides. & they both failed, coudnt make the sides, & only lasted a few years & both went running, off to union. one folau is staring for Australia & hunt is off to the Reds
but couldn't make the team in a bunch of wooden spoon winning sides, but you bumsniffers call it a success!
oh well i guess you NRL folks are use to being low achievers, being employed by centrelink :thumbleft:

they were picked on the basis for marketing & being at the top of their code.
highest payed for marketing & AFL is much more bigger business than the government/ tax payer funded game of NRL.
they were given the opportunity to perform at the highest level & given the opportunity to play in a start up side full of kids, that won wooden spoons.

The Triple M Grill Team's Matty Johns has given the AFL a whack for being arrogant in relation to the way it's promoting the Sydney Swans v Greater Western Sydney Giants clash as a blockbuster and issued a plea to Israel Folau.

The former NRL star is not having much success for the fledgling AFL club and Johns reckon it's unfair that AFL identities are queuing up to whack him.

"Israel Folau .. I feel so sorry for that bloke. Now they're just bashing him up and laughing. Even Fevola the other day was like 'ho ho ho, Israel!'. Well Fev, I'd like to see you take a few hit-ups and do what Israel could do in Rugby League," said Johns, who also referred to AFL legend Matthew Lloyd and him saying Folau's senior selection is always tokenism.

"The AFL were the ones who got him there, righto, and they've extracted cheap publicity for him and now they're trying to throw him on the scrapheap. Israel, come home brother."

Mark Geyer said he understands why Folau took the money but predicted that Folau will be back in the NRL within two years.

Folau has played seven senior games this year and is averaging just six possessions. He has kicked one goal.

Israel did'nt nothing but make AFL look bad, he quit mid contract for less money. In other words he did not like AFL even for millions of dollars. So much for getting all the Islanders into AFL, just won't happen.

The game was too soft and no challenge for him more like it. Hardly difficult when you get points for missing a shot at goal :\:

When you get paid big $$$ then you just go through the motions.

If Derpball wasn't so desperate for attention in the northern states( look at us look at us) then they wouldn't have thrown millions away .

Whats wrong with promoting your game in new markets? Maybe if the NRL tried it they might see the Storm with a decent following

Falou never cut it. They were waxing lyrical about major daws body as well. Maybe that type of physique doesn't suit AFL ... Suits the bang crash of nrl ... Two sides facing each other. I don't think falou had the smarts either to be honest.
