I think there's five rl clubs for all if tassie and maybe 6 or 7 for Adelaide. I think in Melbourne it's about 9 at best covering from Geelong to cranbourne ...

Parra.
You are forgetting when talking about national,it has to be what a derpballer sees as national.
Your rational arguments don't stack up against the brainwashed "We are the National Indigenous Code" clowns.
No code is truly national,or they all are.

If you look at the list supplied you will see how broadly across this nation ar is played ... Far far more so than rl. Soccer would obviously match or even better this. But when you through in things like national coverage both on radio and TV, press coverage etc then ar is clearly more national than any other footy code

How about you fuck off and come back when you have a clue.
The AFLs future fund hasnt been touched since 2011 - despite the 2 expansion sides whose funding comes from a separate New Markets budget.
The AFL has guaranteed loans for a while, because all league income is subject 1) to AFL distributions and 2) AFL policies. In most cases the loans are to cover new facilities - certainly the case in Victorian clubs - and in any case, those loans are down 2 million to 40 million for 2014. Its also noticeable that these are the leagues ONLY liabilities as opposed to the NRL and its 128 million worth of fuck knows what in debts - and thats just HQ.
You carry on like debt is a bad thing, but again its only bad if you cant pay it off, which most clubs appear to be doing just fine at the moment, again with the exceptions being Brisbane and Port Adelaide.
While me and Dave might not know a lot concerning the NRL debt levels, Im sure Smith does! a man who made billions at his previous posituon And if he's comfortable enough banking $50m than any liabilities the NRL have can't be too current. And quit preaching from the AFL manifesto - it just a pile of hype and propoganda.

being " played " is a near irrelevant criteria dickhead
sooker being the proof
it is played everywhere ... but is barely given a stuff about anywhere
same for the ex pat sthn drop kicks who infest nthn playing fields with their abortion of a sport ... they may play
but the general population north of the murray couldn't care less for this bumbling mess
& this is why neither code is truly or even remotely national
how can the derps & misses claim to be national .....but not even get a gig on the main TV channel in half of the country ?

>

:_<> :_<> :_<> :_<>
it used to
but no one watched it , so it was ... DEMOTED ... befitting its irrelevant status in ... half of the country
would prime coverage of NFL Football ever be put on secondary channels in half of the united states
would ladyboy ball be relegated to ... digital channels ... in the North Of England .. or the South of France
how about Rugby in NZ
the south Island gets it on the main channel ... the North of the secondary one
nope
never in a million years
why ?
because these sports are .... national .. sports
they dominate the talk in bars .... at the work place water cooler ... in the school yards ... from one end of these nations to the other
the Fumbles & bumbles only does this in the Sthn states of Australia
&
Rugby League .. in the Nthn states of Australia ...
& neither is given much attention in the other
Australia has no sport that is truly national
except perhaps cricket

Again, I point to the amount of clubs Aussie rules has in qld and nsw and compare that to rl in AFL states

Yep that's a code that is popular like indoor cricket and netball. But look at how much Aussie rules is played across the nation whereas rl simply is not played to the same levels. Baseball is much bigger (I've played baseball in Victoria and qld)

Fact is there was no rl where I lived in Victoria. That area covers about a third of the state. There was a very small metro/Geelong league that I could have travelled over an hour to the city suburbs and that league was spread over metro Melbourne and Geelong.

Now now .
Facts like that wont be accepted.
It doesn't suit the AFL propaganda image.

About Touch Football
Touch Football is a thrilling, all inclusive sport that allows people of all walks of life to achieve their goals: whether that is the thrill of challenging oneself to compete at their best; the thrill of a fast, skilful and exhilarating sport; the thrill of meeting new people or the thrill of being a part of something in a team environment, that can span a lifetime.
Touch Football has over 250,000 registered members, 500,000 participants annually in programs and is estimated to have well in excess of 500,000 children participating in school programs and related activities. This places the sport among the top participant based, organised sports in Australia.
