sharks own & operate grounds
sharks officials count crowds and post what ever figure they want

AFL & GWS do not own spotless stadium
the NSW government does & it is run by the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW(a government agency).
the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW, operate the stadium and counts the crowds,

the AFL has nothing to do with the crowd figures of the stadium
unlike the sharks.

Guy on LU who I rate as a poster on these matters, says he has correspondence from the RAS to say that the count is done by Ticketmaster. Now, this could unfortunately mean that the posted figures aren't based on actual attendees, but more on tickets sold/distributed. Id have thought that the machines at the gate would be operated by the RAS though, so Im not sure if theres so confusion on the matter at hand. It should be noted that if this is the case, then its the only AFL ground that does this, with all other figures counted by stadium management (at Metricon they are counted by the Suns but verified by Stadiums QLD)

im pretty sure that most of the stadiums in QLD are operated by Stadiums QLD but the ground staff & management still count the the tickets sold

Yet they average 12k despite playing numerous games against other sydney teams. This gives them, a heartland club, a lower average tha 17 AFL teams.
