delusional
the lions are no where near on death door. their memberships and crowds arn't to far off the broncos, their revenue is similar to what the broncos are doing as well.
the lions are their own worst enemy, years of internal broad members fighting as well as bering just plain shit for the last 10 or so years, crowd and membership will drop off

It would help if you could prove your comment. Of course the challenge at present is to Leagueiscrap so you don't have to.

I've got a question from that, Wookie. Does that profit for the Broncos include the Leagues Club or not? If it does, then sporting ops for them (when compared directly with the Lions) has them making a $20.97 million LOSS!!
Anyway - a $1.57 million loss for the Lions is no big deal, so they are nowhere near "death's door". Their revenue almost quadrupled the AFL grant.

The Wookie, they are generating $43 million in revenue. That covers those liabilities you speak of. Even if you took away the AFL grant that's still $32 million. Memberships levels are not far behind the Broncos. The crowd average is manageable and yes the Broncos have a comfortable lead there - but that's to be expected as they have one of the firmest (if not the firmest) fan base in the country in rugby league.
Now if you are trying to make a case that the Lions are gone, where are the AFL on this? Why aren't they jumping on the Lions to turn this around? They'd do it if there was really a big problem like that, and publicly. And they haven't. So, to be honest, I think you're making this out to be a whole lot worse than it actually is. I admit it's not the best, but as long as revenue is higher than cumulative losses it is manageable. It's certainly not a basketcase.

The_Wookie wrote:You may not agree that its a basketcase - and your entitled to that opinion, but it does fulfill the dictionary defintion thereof - that is severe financial problems which the organisation is having considerable difficulties with.
No I don't think it's severe when revenue outstrips debt by a large margin. You may disagree with that, but on that alone I think it doesn't fulfil the definition given. The difficulties outside of finances (changes in the board and so forth) should be resolved soon and they can get on with getting the problems resolved. It is well within them to do so rather quickly, and that's why I think the term "severe" doesn't apply here.

No, wrong. The thread was deleted because it nominated no less than six clubs as basketcases, and on field basketcases also. This is not opinion. That is fact. On the field all the AFL clubs are competitive and there is also where the United Eagles example fits better than anything else.
