Well its all over the media now: the AFL have announced their ACC results which show one player at one club is under suspicion for taking PED's, and Essendon is under investigation for multiple players which may have been unknowning, ie DANKS doing the dirty.
Multiple players from Essendon and one player from one other AFL club are being investigated for possible performance enhancing drug use.
AFL deputy chief executive Gillon McLachlan addressed the media in Melbourne on Sunday and said the Australian Crime Commission report only identified two specific cases where WADA prohibited performance enhancing drugs may have been used in the AFL.
McLachlan confirmed one of those clubs was Essendon - who went to the AFL with concerns over supplement use before the ACC handed down their report on Thursday.
McLachlan said the possible breaches of the AFL Doping code would be investigated.

"The AFL is aware of one case involving the possibility of WADA prohibited performance enhancing drug use by one player at one club," said McLachlan, before saying he was not in a position to name that club.
"The AFL is aware that a second case involves the possibility of WADA prohibited performance enhancing drug use by multiple players at one club.
"In this case it's possible that players were administered the WADA prohibited substances without their knowledge or consent."
McLachlan confirmed the second club was Essendon.

Ahh no. After the calls for further details the AFL have announced how the ACC report affects them. Obviously Essendon are in some trouble which is a shame given their players made every effort to ensure they were behaving within the WADA guidelines. But what can a player do when they are told they are to be given a safe substance and theyre not?
But these offences are very limited. NRL must be shitting themselves now....

every player on Essenwoods books are involved you complete knob
& ignorance is no excuse as far as WADA is concerned
you are ultimately responsible for what you put .... or allow others to put..into your body
theres plenty they could have done ...... refused until ASADA cleared the supplements being the obvious first one
Essenscray ....... about to be removed from the 2013 Vicky Kicky comp

I'm aware of that. My theory is Danks outlined his legal supplements to the club and players but gave PEDs instead. Essendon were then a target for match fixing or blackmail. This is what the ACC have said was a major part of their investigations.
If this is true then ASADA will still ban the players for 2 years even though they were unaware. This could threaten the clubs entire existence given sponsors will jump off, so will fans and members, and worse case scenario they could end up folding all together. Oh well, time to support the Giants
As far as integrity goes, at least it appears Essendon were innocent victims which gives me some comfort.
Imagine this scenario multiplied by 6 in the NRL? Imagine if match fixing was even more comprehensive? This could threaten the very existence of RL in Australia.
No matter how much I like bagging RL on TFC I would certainly not wish for this to happen.

If you want to know what it would be like living in an Australia without rl, come visit SA. In 2012 with no rl games here, Adelaide was voted the countries safest city. Coincidence? I think not!
Raiderdave please tell me you're trolling when saying that Essendon will be kicked out of the comp in 2013. Hypothetically if they are found guilty and do get banned from the AFL for one year, does this mean the 5 nRL clubs who could also be found guilty will get booted out of the nRL for 1 year?

If you want to know what its like to live Australia , where sports bodies don't come to within a cooee of posting a profit
in fact can't add ... subtract , don't know what a balance sheet is
& only possess red pens for the ledger
then also visit SA

Unless they come out and own up by admitting guilt the ban is 2 years I believe. And I agree with Dave on this, Essendon if found guilty could be kicked out for 2 years. Doesn't bode well for the Nrl though.

Essenmond are the only club its suggested undertook these activities .. altogether ... as a club
I understand the NRL clubs have individuals who have been stung by organsied crime
ie taken supplements that they were told we ok
then blackmailed after the crime gangs revealed to them .. they in fact weren't & from there they used these players to fix games
its only a handful in each club I'm hearing
its enough & its serious
they will be banned for 2 years each & everyone of them
but it won't be enough players to dismantle entire sides in our game..... like it will for Essenwood
