It seems Raiderdave doesn't know his club very well. He thinks the nRL club makes money when they actually lost over $200,000 last year.

Why would anyone need to tell you guys, everyone knows the Raiders are loaded, they have at least 4 clubs looking after them (NSW/ACT alone) and when the sneaky buggers went to stupor greed, all them SL clubs got millions from Uncle rupes (farking old merkin

). The Raiders alone got something like $30 million to go to Stupor League, maybe more, I know Cronulla got a fair bit and pissed it up the wall, but hey, that's the sharkies and you wouldn't expect anything different from that mob, they're our version of Port Barralaide.
The Raiders though put it all in the bank with some of it going into properties for investment which has paid off (the lucky bastards) and they're looking good for the future, all they need to do now is get that team they have with plenty of potential and put it on the park week after week in winning form. Canberra to you guys is a small place, but the areas around the ACT make up a hellava big catchment, the NRL would be mad to let them wither and die.

How are the raiders loaded when their football budget is a measely 12m? They actually only earn 6m a year from membership, sponsorship, attendance etc....
They may have assets but their revenue is a disgrace. Raider claims their business ventures are part of their revenue, but that's garbage given the costs of these businesses is only a few million short of the revenue they generate.

If the Raiders put their money into investments, as far as I know, it's their money.
Heck, you might put shit on RL for their smaller crowds than the AFL, but RL in Australia still punches well above its weight when put up against most footy comps on Earth, you can see any amount of Union and Soccer clubs around the world with empty stadiums each week, but it doesn't mean they don't have money.

they have assets but poor cash flow. hardly surprising given the raw deal they get from the nrl and ch9

Lions report a big loss. Mostly due to their LIONS@springwood entertainment venue.

its hurts you .. pains you ... tears you up in side

No, their football revenue is the lowest of any AFL team by a LONG WAY. Its even lower than some A League teams, as are their crowds and member numbers....

so what
we're amongst the best run sporting franchises in the country away from our football operation ....so we don't rely on it & as a result have more money & assets then most VFL clubs & ALL A League clubs ... hell we'd have more half their comp combined.
a lil pocket dynamo .. are the Raiders
with every VFL club .. relying on their football operation , on very very thin margins .. any down turn in income .. or costs rising .. like they are for most VFL clubs ... sees them instantly in the red
& for some clubs .. they have this year after year .. like the ol wions .. or port crapelaide ... north .. etc etc
a cycle of debt , they can't get out of
a massive millstone around the VFL 's neck
dark days ahead
dark days

Oh so Pies 5 years consecutive losses is all the venue is it? Yes all seems to be another excuse just like the Swans turning a profit in 2011 due to selling of assets...

Partly. It's also partly due to a reduction in crowds and members due to poor on field performances over the last 5 years or so. That's what happens to expansion teams. They get plenty of support in good times and a big drop off in hard times.
