So the reason the storm get regular crowds of 9-12k in a stadium that can fit over 25k is because they need more seats?

Obviously you don't understand. It's not about number of seats. It's about the exposure! It's not much better than Olympic Park like I said! Now if the plans had gone ahead 100 percent that problem wouldn't exist! Are we clear now?

Seriously, there is absolutely NO evidence for your "theory". The Storm have struggled to draw a crowd for their entire history, no matter what stadium they play in. Enough of the excuses already. NRL fans need to show up to games, instead of thinking of reason not to.

There's enough history and evidence to suggest that this will never happen. In Sydney they're always blaming the stadium locations for their shit crowds, but you only need to look at Melbourne to see the "difference" that a world class stadium makes for their crowds.

I like the theory that in RL being in front of the TV is better then being at the game, while in AR being at the game is a lot better then watching it in front of the TV. But I agree with Striker in that the Storm dont get huge exposure in what is essentially a new market.

From what I've heard, there's usually a pretty shit atmosphere at nRL games, which is probably why Channel 9 use microphones down near the sidelines to try and make the crowd seem louder than it really is. The Storm's exposure most of the time would be similar to the Swans. One or two articles in the sport section of the paper, behind the dominant code of the city. The Storm's exposure would have been massive in their premiership years, but there was one big incident which practically destroyed all of that good publicity.

What? It doesnt have a roof so fans stay away? Theres only one AFL stadium in Australia with a roof. That doesnt stop them averaging over 30k per game.

It's not just a roof! It's the ability to find cover from the rain! You can't do it at AAMI Park! You can do it at the MCG.

Here's a site where many fans have praised the stadium. Here's one comment about the roof coverage:

Soccer or rugby league this new venue is brilliant for atmosphere and ease of access. Bit dissappointing the front seats in the side stands are not covered from the elements but that is my only negative

so the front few rows are exposed! How terrible!

Likely they didn't experience it in foul weather. A lot more of the stadium is exposed than they realise. Wind from the east or the west combined with rain and there's nowhere to hide!

seriously, excuse making on a new level. Maybe if they let all RL fans in free theyd get higher crowds. They could even pay them to come! Surely then we would see the NRL come close to matching the AFL for crowds! =D>

If the weather's foul it won't make any difference if it's a $hit venue!
