Given that your definition of "bully" is suspect, TL, I would question your definition of "experience" as well. You pressure El for the first year he saw a game live, and yet you never answered it yourself. So, let's hear it. What year did you first see a game of Aussie Rules live?

I was trying to get KE to cough up first so I could embarass him instantly - but okay since someone else asked.
1972.
Victoria Park - Collingwood v Geelong. I even remember the final scores; 28.16 (184) to 16.13 (109). Peter McKenna slotted 12.
And what's this querying of my definitions? Experience is experience and bullying is bullying!

Do you think i would be embarrassed by the fact you have been to more AFL matches than me TLPG?

I've got an idea, El. Give us your first year, and we can compare your league experience as a spectator with TL's. Now THAT would be embarassing right?
Okay, TL, you've got some considerable speactating experience. Now tell us what year you first umpired.

Yes Stryker why not put the cards on the table. But first year doesnt really mean diddly but I'll give TLPG my AFL match first year just to stop him spitting the dummy...again
First year AFL match: Cant remember but i think it was either 2000 or 2001. But i did go to NT Darwin matches as a toddler.
Amount of AFL matches been to: Couldnt say but it'd be about 21
Marngrook matches umpired: 3
Marngrook matches boundary umpired: 1
Marngrook matches played: About 40
Amount of AFL matches viewed on tv: Dont know but it'd be around 70
Amount of NRL matches been to: Cant remeber but it'd be around 36
Amount of NRL matches viewed on tv: Dont know but it'd be around 400
RL matches played: 6 or 7
RU matches played: about 25
I'd say that's a pretty decent spread of experience across the both codes and RU, especially considering playing a sport is the most direct and comprehensive experience one can have of a sport, hands down. LG will have more exp in Marngrook but diddly squat in RL, meaning he has less authority to comment comparatively on the codes.
Yours Sincerely,
Champ

First year AFL match: Already answered this one
Amount of AFL matches been to: I'm counting the grass roots here, and say it would be somewhere around 500
AFL matches field umpired: 533
AFL matches boundary umpired: 31
AFL matches goal umpired: 222 (Total 786)
AFL matches played: 1
Amount of AFL matches viewed on tv: No real idea, but at a ball park guess it would be approaching 1000 by now
Amount of NRL matches been to: 1
Amount of NRL matches viewed on tv: Wouldn't really know eactly but it wouldn't be more than half a dozen
RL matches played: 0 (I wouldn't waste my time)
RL matches umpired: 1 (social admittedly)
RU matches played: 0 (Ditto)
To Striker - I debuted as an umpire in 1983.
For KE's answers, I only disbelieve three - AFL games played and umpired (both capacities).

533 games as a fiel umpire??? I have to admit I'm impressed with that. El, his AFL experience actually has a proper value now, and I can't ignore it. I don't think you should either, unless you're seeing something I've missed.
NRL experience however.......

I was just counting AFL matches been to there LG. I'd prob have another 30 or so games of marngrook viewed that weren't AFL.
But yes LG's experience of footy is impressive but his perspective is only one of a close observer, not a player. So it is narrowed fairly significantly there. Now get back to the original argument I was trying to explain that understanding whcih code requires the more skillful adjudicators requires experience in both codes before TLPG blabbed about having significantly more experience of footy than myself.
Now I'm happy to admit LG has more experiecne of marngrook than moi, apart from the all important playing experience, but my argument was clearly about needing experience of both codes to judge objectively on this one. And in that contest folks, I take the cake, by a country mile. :D
Read and weep LG, read and weep

And you don't have the experience in AFL that I have, by your own admission. In addition you haven't played so that destroys your argument. I'm one up on you on that one.
Just as an aside - it'll be 534 this Sunday. A surprise appointment to my seventh grand final - which I didn't expect after only doing one other final and being unavailable the last two weeks.

Again LG you take the simple line and dont realise what we're getting at.
1. I have and am continuing to play marngrook.
2. I have more RL experience than you.
3. I have experience of both codes, which you dont.
Therefore I'm better placed than you in comparing which codes adjudicators have the tougher task. Now lets get this back on topic LG, enough of you blowing your own horn about marngrook experience. And for the record, the only reason I have blown my own horn here is because LG took this off topic. I'd never be one to brag or boast.
Yours Sincerely,

You have no on field experience in AFL. None. I have one social effort at reffing thugby, which might not count for much but it's more than nothing at all. And for someone who wasn't trained, those who played thought I did okay. As long as you know about the six tackle limit and the forward pass you'll get away with it. It's much easier than umpiring AFL.
And what a hypocrite!! You claim not to brag or boast - and yet there you go again with the Arcade! Sheesh!

Oh yeah? I have no on field experience of Marngrook? Then why would beaussie, when you pm'd him asking about my playing experience, say I have?

I know you know the truth sunshine, you dont have to save face in front of me

But yeah ok, if you wish to save face in front of our other members go ahead continue your lies and deceipt

We'll just keep your knowledge of my playing experience a lil secret shall we?
Dinners cooked folks! It's roast TLPG with his usual stuffing of Bullpoop...

I know the truth. You haven't played a single game. You are the one who has to save face. Beau has said nothing of the sort to me in PM. You really don't want me to say what he did say - trust me on that one!
