So you had great weather for the first few weeks last year, yet the crowds were down on the year before.
This years crowds are shocking even despite the weather and show how feeble the supporters of your code really are.
What's up with the FTA ratings too? fN at 9.30 and Sunday afternoon aren't even rating in the top 20!
I would like an answer to that too. Going to fire off an email to some journos at the Daily Telegraph (Rebecca Wilson?) and Sydney Morning Herald. Perhaps they can shed some light on why NRL tv ratings have been so disappointing this season and well down on last season. As you say Xman, not even registering if the Top 20.
it would take 2 secs for any journo to see they're actually

Well hopefully we will find out. Emails sent. Hoping in particular for a response from Mrs Wilson.
Hi Rebecca,
Was wondering if you could shed some light on the falling NRL tv ratings and crowds in 2012?
The 9:30pm Friday night game has for the first time I can remember not made the Top 20 programs for the last few weeks. Same goes for the Sunday NRL game on Channel 9.
I'm curious how the NRL can suggest their tv deal is worth $1 billion+ in light of falling tv ratings in 2012.
Last Friday, The Bold and the Beautiful rated better than Friday night NRL at 9:30pm on Channel 9. Again, not sure what is going on. Surely Channel 9 would be concerned about the ratings for the Friday night double headers.
In fact, what does this mean for the Friday night double header on Channel 9? Crowds for the NRL are also down. Are you able to shed some light on this matter through the Daily Telegraph. Would think this would be an interesting analysis by yourself whilst the NRL is spuiking for a billion+ tv rights deal.

Email sent to the Offsiders team at the ABC.
Perhaps they can shed some light on the dwindling NRL crowds and tv ratings in 2012.

Email sent to TV Tonight as well. Fingers crossed we get to the bottom of this glaring problem for the NRL as they seek to negotiate their next tv deal.
Down, down, NRL crowds and tv ratings are down
Please explain someone. Anyone. We eagerly await a response.

Officially fudged you mean. By hours watched the AFL smash the NRL, who only catch up because their games are shorter so their fans are counted more often.

you can have less people watching in the " minor " states for as long as you want
we'll take more people watching for less time in the important states .. you know .. where most advertising is written
any day of the week

That's the point, there aren't less, there's more, they are just not counted as often. For example I can watch 6 hrs of AFL on Saturday and only be counted as watching 2 games. You will be counted 3 times when you watch your 6 hours because the NRL can fit 3 games in to these 6 hours.
So when the Cumulative figures for this day show both codes had 1.5million viewers, which code actually had the most fans? That would be the AFL who have 750k watching each game. The NRL had only 500k watching 3 games but they add up to the same total despite less fans watching each game.
Simple.

You'd think if people found value in using cululative figures that they'd use something that directly translates into revenue like cumulative hours, since it's the number and quality of viewing hours that determines income.

But cummulative hours doesn't support their argument. Shame for them that the networks realize the length of the program is just as important as the ratings. What's the point in having a half hour show that rates a million when they can broadcast a 2 hour show rating at 750k and acheive so much more from ad revenue.
