I asked the ACT Education Dept if this is a common occurance

absolutely they replied
across nearly every primary school ... catholic & state across the territory
they don't mind ... the AFL is funding some of their responsibilities

but what an utter sham it is when they include all these kids as being AFL players

its utter nonsense

No they don't. This is flagrant slander against Auskick and I will be starting formal enquiries about this at work tomorrow.

For the record, what is the AFLs involvement in school in NSW? Are they just clinics with AFL stars like most states run?

From my experience it's more to do with AFL being a part of the school's PE curriculum. But it doesn't count to numbers because all the kids who play for their school also play for clubs. If clinics are run it's done with the co-operation on an AFL club. In Sydney that's been the Swans, although the Giants will also be doing that from this season. But it is never done by force by the AFL, the Swans or anyone else from our great game. IF there's any force going on and I seriously doubt this, it will be the school doing it.

Imagine if the ARL did clinics in Victorian schools. Do you think the Victorian schools or education would have any idea how they counted the participants??

You have absolutely no idea

I'd think they'd have some idea Xman. Schools and the organisations they deal with nowadays have a significant amount of formal and informal communication.
