Any crowd that pulls more than 75 percent of capacity would be considered filled. It doesn't have to be bulging at the seams.

their average in 1986 at the SCG was only 25,847
or half full on average
they got to 75% full ..... twice

so is that " regularly " ... filling the SCG in the late 80's is it ?

That is terrible grammer, NSWAFL. Since when did a "crowd" pull anything?

115K members for the 9 NRL clubs in Sydney
nearly 5 times as many

hurts doesn't it ?
Let's compare these figures to storm in Melbourne:

In 2011 the storm finished 3rd and had 171k attendance to H&A games plus 11.8k members

In 2011 the Melbourne AFL teams had 4.3 million attendance to H&A games plus 430k members

Therefore the Storm have 1/25th the attendance of AFL in Melbourne and 1/35th the membership

I'd say the swans at 1/5th and 1/6th is looking f'ing outstanding!!

Cheers Raider. You've made my day! =D>
no
lets compare the Storm of 2011
to the Swans of 1995

we've been through this .....

oh & Melbournes population only hit 4 Million in late 2010
so 300K people moved there last year did they

wombat
What the figures show is that the swans are supported 6 times more in Sydney compared to the storm in Melbourne despite the swans only existing in Sydney for a bit over twice as long, and the storm making the GF five times in 14years!

sorry what ?
Swans 25K fans at games
& in a city about 20% smaller then Sydney
the Storms gets 14K....
the Swans 75K TV veiwers ( pay & FTA combined )
the Storm .... 85K on FTA alone

the Swans 6 times the support .......
I'd say the Storm are in front actually ......... :-k

Excuse me? Since when was Melbourne 20 percent smaller than Sydney? Besides, the difference between 25,000 and 14,000 is more than 20 percent! It's not far over 50 percent! That's a loss for the Storm for a start. In front my arse!

The comparison you douche was the storm and swans relative to the AFL and NRL in each foreign market. The swans have 1/5th the attendance and membership of Sydney RL teams. The storm 1/25th of Melbourne AFL attendances. Memberships are worse at 1/35th.

Therefore the swans have penetrated a sports unfriendly maket in sydney far better than the storm have penetrated sports loving Melbourne! The difference is 6 fold despite the swans only existing twice as long.

Should have known these figures woul be beyond your understanding.

Sydney's population is 5 Million ish
Melbournes 4 million ish
whats 20% of 5 Million .. thats right ****... 1 million

& the Swans average after 13 years ( 1995) in Sydney was only 15 odd K
funnily enough the population of Sydney then is about what Melbournes is now

the Storms 14K stacks up .... just fine

The Storm are playing finals. The Swans weren't back then. Bring in a relevant comparison, Dave.

In 1995 the swans were averaging 16k compared to the NRLs 14k, so still doing far better in the Sydney market compared to how the storm are doing in Melbourne!

No matter how you slice and dice it AFL is stronger in NSW than RL is in VIC

a relavent comparison

how bout the Swans were playing in a fine facility that seated 50K
& only 1/4 filled it

the Storm played until last year ... in a delapadated hole ( Olympic Park ) that held barely 15K
& filled it every week

well ... filled it by your 75% is filled calculation anyway
hows that for relavent

Compared to the storms 171k for H&A games and the 4.3mil than attended AFL games in Melbourne in 2011.

The swans were doing much better in 1995 compared to league in Sydney given the NRLs entire attendance was just over 3mil in all states, which is lower than AFL in Melbourne alone. Plus the storm average less than the swans did in 1995.

Face it. It's over!
