the pressure in League is to use your possession well .... it matters not , that you may have to turn it over after 6 uses ( repeat sets anyone ) if you are controlling the tempo of the game & where its being played ... ie mainly at the opponents end
if their having to be consistently putting in clearing kicks at the end of their sets .. you're on top , they're under the pump ..... points should be a formality

indeed what most Australians like
I don't doubt this. I never said RL didn't have it's good points. Like the tackling is quite impressive at times.

But it does lack regular contests for the possession of the ball, and all the associated factors that come with it, like accurate passing and clean hands (or feet). Soccer, bball, netball, hockey, NFL, Gaelic football, ARs all have this aspect in spades and can therefore claim to be sports with excellent ball skills. I'm afraid RL cannot. But the tackling is good!

In my opinion RL has no good points at all. I find it dull and boring.
Rugby League has a lying culture. Altering crowd figures, relying on inaccurate TV figures from regional NSW and refusing to distance itself from Leagues Clubs and obtain it's own club memberships as it relies on LC's to survive as private entities.

Bombs
they're usually contested ... as are grubbers along the deck after the 5th PTB......

RL players have vastly superior ball handling skills then AR players
they have to
they can't knock it forward & have play continue ... set completion is critical in our game , keep giving the opposition time with the ball .. they'll score.

as I asked someone here before & Parra went that bit further
do you think you could hold onto the ball when hit by 350kgs of impact
&
if you could
could you then offload it in the wrestle with this 350kgs of defence trying to re-arrange your spinal cord for you

I'd think not

I acknowledged bombs and grabbers were one of the only contested possessions in RL. But let's face it, there is some skill in the kicking part, but ther is also a decent amount of luck. The conversion rate for these forward moves must be pretty low.

Hand skills in RL are very underdeveloped. Sure the penalty for fumbling is there, but only if the fumble is forwards. LOL

Pretty much every pass by hand is to a player on his own, with no pressure from an opposition player to spoil a pass that is too slow, too high, or a poorly chosen option. The receiver is free to collect the ball with no need to directly beat a defender.

These are very basic skills any netballer, footballer, basketballer just takes for granted! In RL it's one of your only ball skills!

Holding on to a ball when tackled may be a skill, but not one involving a contest for possession, which has already been decided

AR players have very little skill where handling is concerned .. there fumbling & bumbling even when they're not under any pressure
is more then enough proof

RL players have far better hands .... their vision & perception of depth , & lines are unequalled
ball players in our game just can't pass the ball onto the next player

they must create space ... they do this by playing flat or with depth depending on what is in front of them
go to the line .. commit defenders ..& give a short ball to a runner hitting the hole you've created at pace .. pass must be delivered with perfect timing .. & the runner must have the right line to break the defence
subtle & brilliant
it puts pressure on great NRL defences .... it would have AR players in a league defensive line not knowing their ear hole from their shit shoot

off loading under pressure is a skill AR players would not get anywhere near to perfecting .. hell they wouldn't even get to try n offload it , they'd have it dislodged every tackle they took in our game by the brutal defence they'd have to endure
they'd be hooked from the field as they'd be too costly to leave out there .. fumbling n bumbling around

nah
the Skill set in our game is highly developed ... magnificent to watch .. absorbing when teams have it firing
I like the majority of aussie's .... love it
seriously love it

Be even funnier when the game gets nation wide coverage too, the gap will only grow. They know, we know it, but it still hurts and frustrates them.

Love it.

^ Ball handling skills in RL resemble an Aussie rules training drill, if you can throw a ball 5 mtrs and know backward from forward you're on your way, then you just have to practice catching 5 mtr passes whilst under no pressure.

we have kids ( under 16's) who can hit an orange held up at chest level.. with a lateral spiral pass .. 30m away
they can do this running at full tilt .. & reproduce it on the field ... in play onto the chest of an outside back .. with 100kg forwards bearing down on them fixing to remove their heads .. off their shoulders
great skill

I'd love to see some AR players line up in a RL tackling drill or 2
could you imgaine the scrawny little wally's lining up to do either the tackle ... 8-[ .... or the hit up [-o<

just practice mind
a bit of fun

hmmm :-k
