Thu TV #NRL #NRLSOUBRI Nine 629k (Syd 395k Bri 234k) GEM 27k (Mel 17k Per 11k)
Fri TV #NRL #NRLPARCBY Nine 637k (Syd 468k Bri 170k) GEM 33k (Mel 23k Per 10k)
Its does not matter if its thursday, monday, Friday the NRL rates more then the AFL on FTA and Fox that is a fact you will have to come to terms with...

Its good to see AFL fan IQ has gone backward since i last participated on this forum, really justifies me cutting back my involvement on TF when you have people so stupid they cannot comprehend what was being said.
If i stay to long i might catch what they have..........

Thats partly right, Friday night - footballs prime viewing night - the night you wont let your bottom dwelling sides near the screen. And more often than not the AFL come second . Since The Origin period (where we were more focused on getting 4million for our games) ended the NRL have turned there attention back to club football where they have won the last 2 . And Brisbane wern't involved in either ,so you will have think up a new excuse.

What about the fact according to the data that was shown,
this data for example: Fri TV #NRL #NRLPARMAN 595k (Syd 443k Bri 152k) GEM 29k (Mel 18k Ade 4k Per 7k) 624k + regionals = over 1million.
Fri TV #AFL #AFLPowerBlues Seven 449k (Mel 283k 166k) 7mate 98k (Syd 19k Bri 17k Per 62k) 547k + Fox 196k = 743k + regional = 850-900k
that AFL does better in traditional Rugby areas than NRL does in traditional Aussie Rules areas? surely this shows that AFL has a bigger potential to grow in popularity in these areas.

Yeah considering these parts of the country have had AFL/VFL on TV in their areas for well over 40 years and the AFL states are into their first ever contract with 9 where the NRL are getting a few games shown.
Logic, AFL logic.

Your draw wasn't picked in September. And remember , not everyone can come second. The AFL should be pleased with there achievments.

Bahahaha.
9 games compared to 8 a week and you work it all out, the games got more or less the same, yet one of the games had to force two other parties into something they didn't want and that alone cost the game millions, but the next time will more than make up for it. As they say, short term pain for long term gain
The other game has a few things left for next time including Prime Time slots and maybe more games on Public hols and stuff to sell, they'll get something, but I'm not sure they'll be getting the increase like the NRL just had and will have next time.
The NRL has still got the expansion thing hanging around while the AFL will be still bedding in new teams from the 5 years previous. The NRL might go for 1 team or as we have seen from the people who run RL they are not scared to put in up to 4 new teams at once. (I doubt the 4 very much, %99.9 sure it will not be 4 new teams)
More games alround for FTA and Pay TV, new markets opened up. That's just expansion, the ARLC still has plenty of rep footy to sell after the next RLWC out here.
I can see both getting more, but I see the NRL with a massive advantage where it's concerned.
This is not to offend anyone, it's my opinion and imo, Rugby League in this part of the world is about to hit a period of massive growth.

The other side is the AFL takes hits by broadcasting low ratings games separately into NSW and QLD, forced the live tv issue when the broadcaster didnt want it, particularly on Fridays, included live simulcasting, still kept its own scheduling while slightly increasing the prime time slots for low drawing and non victorian clubs and still kept its day time grand final.
The NRL isnt going to get additional funding for Adelaide unless something drastically improves, Melbourne still rates like crap no matter who is on, and Perth is marginal at the moment, expansion would probably help there - and its not like rugby league is new to these places - both Adelaide and perth have had teams in the past, Melbourne has had one for a fair while now, they both get strong Origin ratings - its not like the people arent aware that the game is on tv. Im also not entirely sure how much control the ARLC gets over tv rights for the world cup, typically these are sold by the world body.
Ch9 don't always get it right either you know, they have locked in some shocking games this year thinking some teams would step up (hoping more like it) and it backfiring. The NRL might not even look at WA or SA or Timbuktu, they could put another team in NZ, PNG, Fiji, Brisbane, Ipswich, Central coast, heck, they might even ship the nulla sharks off to one of these places beforehand yet. Who knows, and that's why I'm saying the NRL is in a great position, they have so many potential places left to choose from.
I'm sure they'll be looking at every avenue before deciding what's best for the game.
If it's local expansion that brings in the bigger bickies, so be it, if it full International, go for it. Me, iId love to see a mixture over the next 15-20 years.

Parafeelup you're not very logical at all.
You state the AFL is bedding in two new teams and the nrhell has the option to expnand!
The AFL has already expanded and it will be looking for those expansion markets to mature.
The nrhell would have to experience that initial dip of bedding in new teams.
The AFL demanded control of TV viewing for less money.
The AFL can always do an nrhell and pass controll over to the networks for more money.
IMO there will be no major changes at the next rights. There will be only modest growth. The break up might change with non TV rights growing strongly.

Mature within the second TV rights deal in non heartland?
