Even using Wookie's figures the only category the AFL would win would be the golbldigook award. Ratings come from two things. Pay TV and Free to Air TV, the NRL win both these categories.The AFL are unable to compete when it comes to highest rating matches ,as said by Dave, the NRL will once again attract more total ratings this year.

As for the TV rights deal , there are to many unknowns to know for sure. But it is more likely than not that the NRL also won in this area aswell.

these fumbling wankers think splitting our telecasts between our 2 biggest markets on Fridays advantages us
its a clear disadvantage
the 2.3 Million who will watch the NRL over last night & tonight is about 500K more then if there was one game delayed into both markets
the NRL will pick up an extra 2 million veiwers minimum over the next 4 weeks by having just one game on Friday
& with a more sensible broadcast strategy in the future we will see another 12 to 15 million veiwers added to the NRL's season total
& have look at what we are missing out on this present deal alone with our game having too much of the ball out of play for too long while the clock continues to run
a few minor adjustments in time keeping would have seen our game get 1.4 Billion plus this time around
we have 3 years to get this right ( and we will fuckers .... we will ) & score a media rights deal other codes could only dream of
how can any sport keep pace with the juggernaut that is the NRL

And who would folk out for Pay TV, pay extra for the sports package, Sit through 1/2 an hour plus of adds to watch a game often not in HD.

The AFL regional ratings are even smaller now that Fox simulcast all FTA game across the country.
