Hahaha, I heard the news on the radio coming home. ROFL @ RL fans thinking their silly code is in the same league as the AFL. Once again, money talks.

AFL = Australia's No.1 Game :P

Well Im not the only one. LU is a mad house ATM. Why? because the AFL have 4 live games per week in to NSW and QLD and the NRL only 1. They also have 9 live foxtel games plus their own channel and the NRL only 5.

The money is good, you needed it, but for the RL fans its a disaster!
Oh well looks like i will be forking out money for foxtell... :D
Your game is still owned by Murdoch and News Ltd, never forget that darlin.

No we should change it to " the NRL are so broke they'll screw their fans to get near the AFL"

Well most of us said the NRL would gget 750-900M excluding NZ. But we all assumed they would actually improve on their TV broadcast, not remain with the same embarrassing schedule that sees more AFL shown in NSW QLD than NRL.

Who would have thought the league was in that much trouble that they insisted on taking a similar amnount of money to the AFL but with a shocking TV schedule? #-o #-o

Rumour has it that they could have taken 4 FTA games live a week for 800M, which is exactly what we were all predicting.

The AFL crew assumed a lot of things IE regional s don't count,no way could get double their current deal in one hit,the NRL TV rights were not artificially subdued post super league, regional don't matter, channel 9 were broke and would not/could not bid more, channel 10 were broke etc etc.

So now they get more than twice the money(and still counting) without having to provide more product and at the same time 9 and Fox had to give up first and last rights as well as pay the first $100m in advance.

It is obvious why you get a point for missing in AFL because misisng the target is standard to the game. Did they get anything right?

We also assumed the NRL would ask for reasonable TV coverage, not remain on 3 FTA games per week with one live! Thats backwards! By 2017 you'll still have 1 live FTA game per week with the Broncos playing in it almost every time.

Please tell us again how this is good! LOL

How the hell can you know what is going on xman, the IC might have stipulations in the contract in regards to expansion and FTA coverage if they decide to expand before the next rights deal.

As usual, you vFL boys jump in feet first.

theyve openly said its not on the agenda for this deal.

So much for Dave and his relentless insistence that expansion was coming in this new contract.

Yeah i think it a smart move by the ARLC to postpone Exp untill they have a strategy down pact, we all know how wrong exp can be...

Just look at GWS, SUNS if you want to see how not to expand your game. 400million over a 5 year black hole with no idea in sight on when these 2 clubs will stop leaking. :-k

Btw xman expansion has not been taken of the table yet so hold your horses or show me were they say expansion is being shelved.

IT WAS a simple nod of the head by Channel Nine boss David Gyngell that quickly made it clear expansion was not about to happen in the NRL any time soon.

Despite long-running and spirited campaigns by the Central Coast, Brisbane Bombers Central Queensland and two Perth franchises to be included as the 17th team, Gyngell and ARLC chairman John Grant made it clear they would not see a single dollar from the latest TV deal.

Its gooooorrrne!

As to AFL expansion, we got the $$$$ champ. TV money is but a mere portion of our riches :D
